The CONTRAfluranTM-Filter consists
of solid materials, distinguished by
their rugged grain structure, extensive
surface area and high micro-porosity.
This highly porous internal structure
adsorbs efficiently and retains
anaesthetic gas components
selectively from the exhaled gas as it
passes through the filter.

anaesthesia machine by means of a ISO 22 flexible hose.

The CONTRAfluranTM-Filter is to be attached to the outlet of the respirator
by means of a ISO 22 flexible hose.

Application with the AnaConDa®-System
The CONTRAfluranTM-Filter is to be attached to the outlet of the respirator by
means of a ISO 22 flexible hose.
For the assembly of the hose to the outlet of the respirator a straight connector
22mm (a/i) with 6mm connection is to be used.
The filter is to be attached to the gas monitor by means of a 6mm hose.

Advantages of the
CONTRAfluranTM-System
• Inhalation of anaesthetic gases and sedation of patients can be done---------------
- everywhere
In ORs, Intensive Care Units, as well as mobile and ambulatory treatment areas,
independent of the anaesthetic gas suction device.
• Safety of patients and personnel
The filter adsorbs the anaesthetic gases Sevofluran, Isofluran or Desfluran efficiently
out of the exhaled air of a patient.
• Maximum adsorption capacity and low flow-resistance
Adsorption capacity of approx. 300 ml (400 g) anaesthetics
Depending on the way of application the filter is continuably usable up to 5 days.
Low flow-resistance value of 1.5 mmWs, so that no further vacuum devices
are necessary.
• High economic efficiency
Favorable cost/performance ratio. Pledge system and cost-free disposal.
• Protection of the environment
CFC and HCFC pollute the atmosphere and play a significant role to the global
warming and ozon depletion.

According to the estimations made, at present only in Germany about more
than 100000 liters of volatile anesthetics like Desfluran, Sevofluran and
Isofluran are used. Worldwide consumption of anaesthetics is estimated to be
more than 4500 tons.

The global Warming potential (GWP) of the volatile anaesthetics is upto 2000
times higher than that of CO2.
Global Warming Potentials (GWP) comparison:
Isoflurane : 1,100 x CO2
Sevoflurane: 1,600 x CO2
Desflurane: 1,900 x CO2
Volatile anaesthetics are mostly fluorinated
or chlorinated hydrocarbons. Thus, they are
harmful to patients and personnel
These groups of compounds possess ozone
depletion potential as well as they contribute
to global warming (greenhouse effect).
