Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions Born in Virginia in 1840, Lottie Moon rebelled against Christianity until one December while she was in college when she finally dedicated her life to Christ. Being one of the first women in the South to earn a Master’s Degree, she taught school in Kentucky, Georgia and Virginia. And then, in 1873, she yielded her life to Christ as a missionary to China. She served for 39 years, mostly in China’s Shantung province teaching at a girls’ school and traveling into China’s interior to share the Good News of Christ with women and girls. During those years, she frequently wrote letters to churches at home, detailing Chinese culture, missionary life, and the great physical and spiritual needs of the Chinese people. She challenged Southern Baptists to come to China or to give so that others could come. By 1888, We want to continue the history of dedicating ourselves to world missions by making a sacrificial gift to this worthy effort. The more than 5,000 SBC missionaries world-wide are dependent on our gifts to this offering. Southern Baptist women had organized themselves and responded to her call by collecting $3,315 to send workers into China (a sizeable amount for the late 19th century). You’ll find Lottie Moon offering envelopes for your gift in the sanctuary or just make your check out to Missions any time through the end of December. Thanks for your support.

Help us help the HOPE Food Pantry in Aubrey by bringing canned goods and other non-perishable items.

Because we’ll be enjoying our Christmas Banquet on the second Sunday night of the month in December, we’re moving our monthly business meeting to Wednesday, December 15 at 6:30 pm

Some of our youth have met the challenge this fall and have memorized a verse of scripture every week. Those who did so without missing a week will be rewarded with a fun time at Great Wolf Lodge on December 10!

We’ll “deck the halls with boughs of holly”…sort of. Come join us as we work together to decorate the sanctuary for the holidays. If you want to, bring snacks!

Rohmer’s Restaurant will return to cater this annual churchwide fellowship! We’ll be asking you to make a donation to help cover the cost of the meal and the entertainment will be a special Christmas trivia contest.

This annual Thanksgiving event is an opportunity to remember how God has blessed us with eternal life and with new members to our congregation. After a Lord’s Supper observance, our new members will be our honored guests for a churchwide potluck dinner. So those of us who have been members longer than one year will bring covered dish dinners for a wonderful time of fellowship.

Bring some snacks and let’s enjoy the latest movie from the same people who brought us “Facing the Giants” and “Fireproof”.
