Finally, I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge for the record theoutstanding work of Past President Trish Grathen. Her quiet buteffective leadership, forward-thinking approach to problem solving, and unflagging commitment to the ideals of Rotary is an example towhich all Rotarians should aspire.

And to our new District Governor Chuck Hanson, congratulations onthis well-deserved honor. The Rotary Club of La Crosse is proud to beyour home club, and we're grateful that ours is among the first you'llvisit on your tour of District 6250.

Forward, together!Cary

Last Week at Rotary

Over 100 members attended our Riverfest meeting. President Trish

Grathen welcomed everyone. We were also welcomed by the 2011Commodore Leo Bronston and his two daughters. The Riverfest Quartet

entertained us with "Down by the Riverside."

Paul Harris Presentations

Paul Harris was one of the Founders of Rotary and was veryinvolved in the development of Rotary which grew from a singleclub in Chicago in 1905 into the global organization we know

today. The Paul Harris Award was setup in memory of his work to

recognize outstanding contributions to the ideals of Rotary.

There are several ways to become a Paul HarrisFellow. An individual can donate $1000 to theRI Foundation or a Paul Harris Fellow can beawarded by a Rotarian to someone, whether a

Rotarian or not, who is deemed worthy of thehonor.

Last week, we honored several members of our club with a PaulHarris Fellow.

Scott Horne and Steve Lindeman received their first Paul HarrisAward.

With each additional $1000 contribution to the RI Foundation, a PHAward is given. The donor is then referred to as a Multiple PaulHarris Fellow and receives a pin signifying this. Those that

received a multiple Paul Harris were:

Greg Curti with a PH +1

Bill Hoel and Dave Trapp with a PH +3

Tim Durtsche with a PH +6

Dave Trapp honored his son Jon Trapp with a Paul Harris Fellow.

Thank You to Mary Stanek: As many of you know, Mary hasbeen a devoted member of Rotary and the Youth Exchange Committee formany years and has held the position as YEC for the past 8 years. Marystepped down as YEC as of June 30th.

As YEC, Mary has been the contact person for our Youth Exchange studenteach year. She would coordinate all aspects of the exchange students timewhile they are here.

Mary has been a very devoted YEC, putting in countless hours and treatingeach exchange student like they were her own and has developed lasting

relationships with many of those students.

On behalf of our Rotary Club, Trish awarded Mary a Paul Harris Fellow inhonor of her time and devotion to the YEC position. Mary received the PaulHarris +1. She was also presented with flowers and a gift card. We thank

Mary for her commitment to Rotary and the Youth Exchange Program.

Congratulations to all who received a Paul Harrisrecognition. Their continued support to the RotaryInternational Foundation helps to underwrite the many

programs of the Foundation which build goodwill andunderstanding in the world.

Paul Harris said "He who tries to find the good in others will berewarded, for others will surely find the good in him. Of all theearth's sad and lonesome creatures, the most helpless is he who lovesnot his fellowmen."
