Message from the Head of School “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 (ESV) As we come to the close of the 2018/2019 school year, I want to thank our CCS families, friends, and supporters for the privilege of leading Covenant Christian School another year. It had been a lifelong dream of mine to start a school that challenges, inspires, and most of all loves children with the heart of Jesus Christ. This year, I’ve seen countless demonstrations of sacrifice and service from parents, teachers, and staff. I’ve witnessed the true excitement of students cheering for one another and of teachers who build on one another’s efforts. And I’ve seen true compassion during the times of disappointment or need. In the 2018/2019 school year, God blessed us with many new families who have enriched our school. We look forward to getting to know a number of new additions coming to CCS next year! We’ve also strengthened our governance with two new board members and functioning committees. The list of God’s provision for CCS this year is countless and we can rest assured in His faithfulness for the 2019/2020 school year. Have a wonderful and safe summer. I thank God for you! Dear Form II Parents:

Growth, curiosity, conversations, and home are some of the words which come to mind as I reflect upon our

year in Form II. We have demonstrated tremendous academic, social, spiritual, and emotional growth as we

have learned together. I have seen a sense of wonder grow in each child "How old was Moses when he went

up on Mt. Sinai?", "What happened in the read aloud while I was at the water fountain? Tell me everything I

missed!", "I just can't stop thinking about electricity!" "You mean your mom is still alive, Mrs. Griffith?"

Laura Ingalls Wilder once said, "Home is the nicest word there is." As we read, discussed, and narrated this

year, we have had many meaningful conversations. We have laughed, cried, offended, forgiven, bonded, and

prayed. As one precious student commented, " During read aloud time I feel like I'm in front of a fire in my living

room." When we are together, we are at home, living in covenant community.

I pray that your summer is a time of refreshment for each of you. Make memories, read good books, laugh,

spend time outdoors, and embrace every moment with your wonderful child! Thank you for making CCS a

better place by entrusting your most precious treasure to us. I look forward to seeing each of you in September!

Blessings,

Mrs. Griffith

Dear Form III Students and Parents,

As I look back on the few months I have been with Form III, I

could not be more thankful to God for placing me with this class.

During our time together we have read through Matthew, studied

and memorized scripture, read two chapter books, wrote stories,

practiced many math facts, studied birds, and learned about

countries around the world. We have laughed, worked though

tears, and laughed some more. We all have grown as a

community and as individuals. To the parents of Form III, I would

like to thank you for giving me a chance to love each one of your

children everyday. To the students I would like to thank each one

of you for working so diligently and showing me each day that

being a teacher is a joy and a reward in itself. I am so proud of

you! I hope you all continue to grow in knowledge, love, and ex-

perience over the summer and that you will be ready to share

many stories in the fall. Don’t forget to read each day and

practice your multiplication facts over the next few months. I look

forward to seeing you in September.

Love, Mrs. Davis

Form IV News

Thank you so much for entrusting your children to me this year. We have had a great year of learning a lot. I have

enjoyed teaching your children and also learning from them. Thank you for all the support you have given me

throughout this year. It has been a delight to teach this class. I have seen so much growth in all of my students and I

am very proud of the work they have accomplished. We had a lot of fun while learning at the same time. I have really

enjoyed my time with your children.

As much as you are able, please encourage them to read through the summer. If you are able, take them to borrow

books from the library to read and also help them keep practicing their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

facts. Again thank you! Have a very blessed summer!

Mrs. Chidzero

Queridas familias de Covenant,

My three years at Covenant Christian School have been the

most fulfilling work I've ever experienced. I truly have

enjoyed teaching your students Spanish and discussing my

deep love of comidas latinas with them! Listening to them

read and speak Spanish has brought me great joy! My

prayer is that the students continue to learn Spanish or find

a desire to learn a new language, learn about its people

and culture. I encourage the students to continue Duolingo

and to read in Spanish!

Teaching Bible has blessed me in ways they will never

know. I have loved listening to their stories and sharing a

piece of mine with them. This precious school will hold a

special place in my heart forever. I will miss each and every

one of my students and families. Thank you for sharing

them with me! ¡Hasta luego amigos!

Dear Form V:

What a great year we've had! Our students rose to the challenge as they learned

about indigenous tribes of North, South, and Central America and Mexico, European

explorers, the discovery of America, and the beginnings of our nation through the

Revolutionary War. To see their growth in composition and in their ability to express

their thoughts in writing was an absolute delight! Students built on their knowledge

each week, and by the end of the year, produced quality narrations and descriptive

essays. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching literature and felt such satisfaction in seeing

their investment in the storyline and characters. Form V is full of personality and our

classes certainly reflected this spirit and enthusiasm. I pray blessings over each

student's summer, that they'll enjoy family time and will continue exploring the world

through literature. Thank you for lending me these sweet souls this year and for being

such supportive and gracious parents. We're so blessed at CCS and hope you all feel

surrounded by love and peace during the break.

Mrs. Liggin

Form VI,

Our high school students were such a joy this year! They

tackled the ancients with enthusiasm and invested time and

energy in the storyline and characters in literature. Students

learned how to explore and trace themes in the novels

through literary analyses, and I was incredibly impressed by

the depth and understanding of those essays. Our high

school students are passionate and thoughtful and

produced such worthy work this year. They engaged our

Bible class with open minds, insightful questions, and

discerning hearts. I was blessed by their discussions of both

the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament. I pray

blessings over each student's summer, that they'll enjoy

family time and will continue exploring the world of Scripture

and literature. Thank you for lending me these energetic

and thoughtful souls and for being such supportive and

gracious parents. We're so blessed at CCS and hope you

all feel surrounded by love and peace during the break.

Love, Mrs. Liggin

Summer Nature Study & Reading

Some schools just have a summer reading program, but we are different. We do

encourage summer reading (see below) but we also encourage family outings and adventures in the great

outdoors. We are excited to launch our summer nature study program. This year our theme will be

seashells. Students are requested to collect at least 10 seashells over the summer and identify them.

Parental assistance may be required. Place the seashells in a box with written identification beside each

one. Also include where they were collected and the date. Add a picture of your family on the beach. We

don't encourage buying the shells from a store, but collecting them from nature. This connects the specimen

with the environment. Read a book about seashells and how they are formed. Bring the collection to school

next fall and they will be displayed in the hallway next to a beach landscape picture painted by Mrs.

Timmer. Grades 6 and above will receive a science credit. Happy hunting!

To go along with the seashell search, we are asking students to read the following books

over the summer:

High School - The Old Man and the Sea (The school has copies of this book to lend out.)

5th - 8th Grades - Paddle to the Sea (Students need to buy the book.)

I cannot believe SY 2018-2019 is coming to a close

in a week. I can still remember each student's face

as they came into my room unsure of what Math

was going to be like! Such a blessing to see new

students who God brought to CCS and the

welcoming atmosphere our old students share.

Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to

teach each of your children whether in Math or in

Science. I truly appreciate each family who

supported us in all our wacky, fun, and stressful

projects (last minute trip to Lowes anyone?). I am

amazed at the growth I've seen since last

September. The joy when I hear students say "Oh

I get it!" or "This doesn't seem so hard!" makes it all

worthwhile. I will definitely miss those who are

moving out of CCS but am looking forward to

seeing most of you return next year.
