RESEARCH TIPS
AmericanAncestors.org contains some of the most important online databases for researching American
ancestry, with more than 1.4 billion names in records covering 18 countries.
****
ARE YOUR “SAVED” RECORDS “SAFE”?
Most people who keep their family tree on Ancestry regularly attach records/images to an individual in their
tree using the ‘Save to a person in my tree’ function, thinking they have really saved the record to their tree,
and it will be there forever and ever. Fun and easy? True. Forever and ever? Not true. What has really
happened was a link was created from their tree to that record/image in a database. So once they stop
subscribing to Ancestry, they will still have access to their family tree kept there, but they will no longer be
able to view any record/image attachments “saved” from a paid database — which most are.
The bottom line, if these records/images are important to you, by all means, “Save to someone in my tree” as
you have been doing, but also use the “Save to my computer” function. Name the record/image file you
saved something meaningful, so it can easily be identified later, and keep it organized in a folder on your
computer. A good practice might be to create a folder on your computer for each of your family surnames.

From The Newnan Herald and Advertiser
Newnan Herald & Advertiser, January 15, 1915 In Memorium On Dec 22, 1914, there passed into eternal rest a beautiful character of the olden times, Mrs. Mary OWEN BUCHANAN, a lady of ante-bellum days – one who lived through the troublous times of the War Between the States, but who never forgot her Southern hospitality, one who had so much of the “milk of human kindness” in her nature that, strong as she was in her love of the Confederacy and the heroes of the mighty conflict, she never cherished in her heart a bitter thought of those on the other side. Mrs. BUCHANAN was born July 5, 1825, in Oglethorpe County. She moved to Newnan when 12 years old, the same year uniting with Ebenezer Baptist Church, in the Sixth District; afterwards moving her letter to the Baptist Church here. She was the wife of Judge Hugh BUCHANAN, marrying him Jan 28, 1847. She was the third daughter of Davis and Sarah OWEN – one of a family of twelve children, and the mother of four children. Mr. E.S. BUCHANAN, of this city, and Mr. Hugh M. BUCHANAN, of Los Angeles, Ca. survive her. She was a good and fond mother, a consecrated Christian worker; a true friend and loving neighbor, ever ready to lend a helping hand to the sick and needy. Her life was an example of devotion to the Master’s cause – her faithful conduct as inspiration to those who knew her. Mrs. BUCHANAN passed away at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. L.H. HILL, in her 90th year. She died in Christ, passing away like a child dropping into a dreamless sleep. Her body rests beside her loved ones in the quiet cemetery on the hill, there to await the “touch of the finger of God, when she will awake from her sleep.” A Friend – Newnan, Jan 5, 1915. .
Newnan Herald & Advertiser, October 9, 1914 Sudden Death of W. T. ARNALL Our community was greatly saddened this morning by the sudden death of Mr. W. T. ARNALL, of Senoia, which occurred about 9 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Z. GREENE, on Greenville Street. He had not been well for several days, it is said, and came up last night to spend a few days with his daughter. He had a good night’s rest, and when he came down to breakfast announced cheerfully that he was feeling better – so much better, in fact, that he spoke of going up town. Two hours later he was stricken with apoplexy, and passed away without regaining consciousness. Mr. ARNALL was one of Coweta’s most prominent citizens and a good man, whose loss to the community will be keenly felt and sincerely deplored. He was a Confederate veteran, one of the few surviving members of the old Seventh Georgia regiment, and was 75 years of age at the time of his death. Mr. ARNALL had been married three times. His last wife survives him, together with four children by former marriages, viz: L.F.T. ARNALL of St. Louis MO, J. Claude ARNALL, of Oklahoma City, Okla, Miss Sallie ARNALL of Birmingham, Ala. And Mrs. Z. GREENE of this city. The only other near relatives are a brother, Mr. H. C. ARNALL, Sr. of this city, and a sister, Mrs. T. G. CONNELL of Carroll County. The remains will be taken to Senoia for funeral and interment, the funeral party leaving Newnan tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon over the Central road at 1:40 o’clock.

In Memoriam OBITUARY FOR JACQUELINE COOK LAMBERT
Jackie LAMBERT was not a founding member of the CCGS, but we felt like she was because she joined soon after it was formed. She was a faithful and hard worker for over 30 years. She worked closely with Norma GUNBY, Frances CHRISTOPHER, Polly ROBINSON, and Ruby JOHNSTON, all other members of the Society working on Tuesdays to keep the Society working. She would visit us with a caregiver the last few years and was a delight to us all. CCGS (Two of the last four Charter Members)

Body of Tenant Farmer Sought Near Durand (Note: This article is related to the book Murder in Coweta County)
Meriwether Man, 3 Chipley Men Held on Murder Charge
Whereabouts of the body of Wilson TURNER, 26-year-old former Meriwether county tenant farmer, was the big
question as a group of 200 farmers and former neighbors joined Coweta County Sheriff A.L. POTTS in an all-day search
Wednesday on the huge farm of John WALLACE, Durand dairyman.
WALLACE is being held in Newnan along with Herring SIVELL and two other Chipley men, charged with chasing TURNER
into the Sunset Tourist Court south of Newnan Tuesday of last week and murdering him in full sight of a number of
the court’s lunch-hour customers.
Since the breaking of the story last Thursday it has been a matter of state-wide shock because of the brutality of the
alleged handling of Turner.
Speculation was high in this county that the “corpus delecti,” necessary for prosecution of the men on murder charges,
would never be found. It was pointed out that successful prosecution could, however, be pushed on assault with
intent to murder charges and that heavy prison sentences could be meted.
TURNER was said to have been accosted by WALLACE and SIVELL following his release from Meriwether county jail
after WALLACE had agreed that he did not have sufficient evidence to bring suit against his former tenant for the
alleged stealing of a cow.
Eyewitnesses said WALLACE and SIVELL caught up with TURNER in Coweta county between Moreland and Newnan
and that agonized cries by TURNER accompanied his clubbing with a shotgun butt.
In a hearing Tuesday in Newnan WALLACE and SIVELL were bound over to Superior Court without bond
