Curriculum learning

This week, the children started their new STAR units of work. With topics ranging from the Tudors to Ancient Egypt, the Neolithic era to the Vikings as well as learning about where food comes from and mar-vellous machines, they have already started to immerse themselves in these new topics learning lots of new vocabulary and facts.

Craylearning

This week, in assembly we re-visited what it means to be a Craylearner. We decided that a Craylearner works well with others; they don’t get upset when they are struggling; they don’t think that they are best at things and are always willing to ask questions and use resources.

The children also understood that a great way to extend their own learning was by reading regularly at home. We very much encourage you to read with your child every day at home. If you’ve not visited it yet, please do go to the reading jungle after school to find one of the many high quality books for your child to read.

Parking

It has not been a good start to the year in terms of parking around the school. We have had complaints from residents opposite the school regarding the inconsiderate parking of some parents/carers.

I have also seen far too many parents/carers parking on the road outside the KS2 gates and/or driving into the area that the KS2 children leave through, clearly trying to access Bright Horizons car park who have now taken action to close their gates; by then having to turn around, you are putting children’s safety at risk. The roads in this area have double yellow lines for a reason and it is also completely unacceptable to park in front of the school gates. On top of this, one of our parents has used vulgar language against the manager of Bright Horizons. PLEASE CONSIDER YOUR ACTIONS—PARK CONSIDER-ATELY, DON’T DRIVE IN AREAS THAT CHILDREN ARE WALKING ACROSS, DON’T PARK IN FRONT OF THE GATES AND BE RESPECT-FUL TO MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY.

May I suggest that if you have concerns regarding parking on roads within the school vicinity, you make contact with the local councillor using the details on the following website:

Mrs Johnson

Today, Mrs Johnson starts her maternity leave. She travels a long distance to get to school and back, so we hope that she is able to take some time to relax before the arrival of her baby. We wish her husband and her all the very best at this exciting time and look forward to meeting the new addition to her family.
