Welcome to the 2018/19 season! We begin this exciting new era for Canada’s largest urban not-for-profit theatre company with the production you are about to experience: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. We’re also excited to see this production launch our first relaxed performance, taking place on Sunday, September 30. This inclusive experience is designed to welcome patrons of all ages and sensitivities, and to break down some barriers that can make theatre a daunting experience for some. The performance contains modifications to the conventions of traditional theatre in order to maximize the comfort of attendees: for example, house lights will remain on and dimmed during the production; music, sound level, lights, and projections will be more subdued; and the audience will be more freely able to move around and make noise. It’s a fitting beginning to this new season, one that celebrates the diversity of our amazing nation, and particularly the incredible talent of this city, as each member of the cast and creative team is a Vancouverite!

We would also like to let you know what we have planned for this year’s “Culture Days.” Join us on Friday, September 28, at

WELCOMEour Goldcorp Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre (in the Olympic Village) for the Arts Club’s Fun House, an engaging and interactive session with our amazing theatre staff. Adults and children alike will get to experience how theatre works, through hands-on stations ranging from costumes to special effects and props to lights, and more. Learn more on our website at artsclub.com/education/in-the-community, or check out all the activities around “Culture Days” at many organizations like ours at culturedays.ca.

Finally, as our 55th season begins, we would like to acknowledge you—our audience, supporters, advocates, and community members. Without you, the Arts Club would not be here, and so we thank you for your support of this local company in your community. To our returning subscribers: welcome back! And if you’re also a donor (which many of you are), thank you so much for your continued and valued support. If you’re one of our over 3,700 new subscribers, thank you for your trust in the Arts Club. We know you’re in for a great season of works that will make you laugh, make you think, maybe make you cry, and always entertain you. If you are a single-ticket purchaser, it is not too late to upgrade to a subscription—just call our box office at 604.687.1644—and enjoy a whole season of Arts Club theatre at any or all of our three venues: the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, the Granville Island Stage, and the Goldcorp Stage at the BMO Theatre Centre. Enjoy!

The Arts Club Theatre Company relies on your philanthropic support to ensure the strength and vitality of the company. As a non-profit arts organization, the Arts Club could not exist without the generosity of our individual donors. Ticket sales cover only a portion of our production costs, so we rely on community gifts to close the gap. Please consider joining us by becoming a member of the Artistic Director’s Circle today.
