Daily Technical View on Nifty

Observation:Marketsended flatonWednesdayafterarecoveryfromthelowsinthelastonehouroftradehelped to erase the intra day losses. TheNifty finallyshed2.8pointsor0.02%tocloseat15,106.5.

Broadmarket indices like theBSEMidCap and SmallCapindicesgainedmore, therebyoutperformingtheSensex/Nifty. Market breadth was negative on theBSE/NSE.

ZoomingintotheNifty15mincharts,weobservethatthe Nifty opened on a weak note and gradually slidlower.Atonepointoftime,theNiftywastrading132pointslowerasitmovedbelowourtargetsof15015.

A smart recovery from the lows in the lateafternoonsession helped the index to erase themorning lossesandcloseonaflatnote.Therecoveryledtotheindexclosingabovethe20and50periodmovingaverageonthe 15 min chart. The strength seen in the lateafternoon session could therefore carry over in theverynearterm.

Onthedaily chart,wecanobservethattheNiftyhasconvincinglyreversedtherecentdowntrendbymovingup froma trend line supportandconvincingly closingabovethe50daySMAlastMonday.Withtheuptrendintact,theNiftynowcomfortablytradesabovethe20daySMA.Whiletherecouldbecorrectionsintheverynearterm,weexpecttheindextomakenewlifehighsinthecomingsessions.

ItisimportantthattheNiftydoesnotmovebelowthesupportof14864onanycorrectionsfortheshorttermuptrendtoremainintact.
