Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wabarakatuhu, Dear Brother/Sister in Islam, Qurban Foundation would like to thank you for your continued support and participation of Qurban 2017. We are pleased and can confirm that we have distributed and fed hundreds and thousands of Muslim families across multiple countries around the world. For some of these families, this is the only time of the year they were are able to eat and enjoy meat. This year we were able to reach the most remote areas in Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, Somalia, and the hostile camps filled with Syrian refugees in Lebanon. Alhamdullilah due to the blessing of Allah (SWT) we were able to enter camps, villages and many regional areas and in most countries the locals were very delighted to receive their meat fresh on the day of Eid. With the Syrian and Lebanon Qurban’s we were fortunate enough to have the carcasses air freighted from Australia in time to enjoy it during this festive season. Madina Halal Meats would like to sincerely thank you for your participation in the 2017 Qurban Appeal. May Allah (SWT) reward you and multiply your deeds and make you amongst those who he is pleased with. We would like to remind our brothers and sisters that we are able to perform their Aqiqa, Sadaqa and Nazer throughout the year (not just for Eid Al-Adha) by visiting our website www.qurbanfoundation.com

Introduction:
Since our humble beginnings in 2008, by the will of Allah (SWT) we have completed our tenth year
of delivering much needed aid to a cumulative total of over half a million brothers and sisters
overseas in some of the most impoverished countries in the world. This year was characterized by
great success in reaching some of the most desperately impoverished communities within these
countries such as those affected by the floods in
Bangladesh, as well as critically affected Rohingya
and Syrian refugees fleeing extreme conflict. This was
facilitated with our extensive and unique partnerships
with international organizations, allowing transparent
and expedient distribution of fresh meat within local
communities.
Our distribution of Qurban is guided by the following
principles:
- Sincerity and dedication towards this significant
Amanah (trust) placed upon us
- Fulfillment of Qurban within the time periods laid
out within the Sharia
- Distribution of Qurban to the most needy and
disadvantaged
- Fulfillment of all pledged Qurban amounts
- Transparency and Post-Qurban reporting of
results
Participating Countries:
- India
- India Rohingya Refugee Community
- Bangladesh
- Bangladesh Rohingya Refugee Community
- Lebanon
- Lebanon Syrian Refugee Community
- Somalia
We ask Allah (SWT) to bless our Qurban and allow us the blessing of fulfilling this trust in
the years to come in sha Allah.

Regional Summary:
This is our tenth year of distribution in Bangladesh
alhamdullilah (Praise be to Allah). Bangladesh is uniquely
characterised by a large number of boarding schools and
orphanages, as well as extensive floodplains. Our distribution
this year took these facts into account and managed to reach
flood victims, orphans and the needy to a total of 3975
orphans and needy students and 2817 flood victims ma sha
Allah (With the will of Allah)! In order to complete this task,
local community leaders were chosen to co-ordinate with aid
organisations to carry out the slaughter on both the day of
Qurban and the day after. These leaders identified needy
individuals too ashamed to come forward to receive Qurban
and ensured it was delivered to them at their homes.

Significant Achievements:
This year was significantly unique in that Allah (SWT) presented
the opportunity for us to feed some of his most desperately needy
servants and Alhamdullilah we were able by His will to reach some
of the refugees fleeing terrible persecution in Myanmar. These
Rohingyan refugees were located hiding in the mountainous jungle
wilderness between the border of Myanmar and Bangladesh,
having walked for fifteen days in fear of being shot. These
uninhabted locations contained no food nor water and thus some
had gone without consuming anything for three days! Upon
receiving the aid one female individual burst into tears and stated,
“I am ashamed to admit that I was compelled by severe thirst to
drink urine before you reached us”.
Due to the remoteness of these locations and the
extreme terrain that was required to be crossed, local
volunteers organised for the qurban to be slaughtered.
As these refugees lacked any means of cooking their
qurban, it was cooked for them by local villagers before
being carried on their backs to the waiting refugees. By
the will of Allah (SWT), they were also able to provide
approximately $1500 AUD worth of fresh water and
$2500 AUD worth of fresh bananas subhanAllah!

Photographs:
Remote camps of the Rohingyan Refugees were
located by the will of Allah (SWT) and were thus
able to be included amongst the recipients of this
year’s Qurban. This photo highlights the treacherous
terrain that these camps were located in, with no
provisions for human habitation nor consumption.
Many of these refugees possessed injuries resulting
from their persecution and broke down in tears at
the sight of our hard-working brothers who struggled
in the cause of Allah (SWT) to provide them with
Qurban and other aid.
Due to the remoteness of these refugee
camps and the lack of necessary cooking
equipment, the Qurban slaughter was
carried out by volunteers at local villages
before being carried to the awaiting
recipients at the refugee camps. This was
co-ordinated through our extensive
collaboration with international aid
organisations and local community
members.

Regional Summary:
Our eighth year of distribution in Sri Lanka was similarly focused on the critically needy members
of the local population, taking place in a total of seven regions across 43 distribution centres. By
the will of Allah, we alongside our international partners successfully distributed Qurban to 10,973
needy recipients alhamdullilah! This goal was achieved through meticulous pre-Qurban
organisation and training of volunteers in Sharia compliant Qurban distribution.

Regional Summary:
Our unique international partnerships stretch
across India where this year by the will of Allah
(SWT) we were able to provide Qurban to 2750
beneficiaries in Karnataka. Given the unique
characteristics of Indian culture, our Qurban
distribution was confined to Muslim majority
communities where there is no government
restriction on livestock possession, slaughter or
consumption. Furthermore, the slaughter was
carried out in private to prevent any resentment
from Hindu members of the local community.
We hope to expand our Qurban distribution in
India in the years to come in sha Allah and to
specifically reach our persecuted brothers and
sisters residing in Jammu and Kashmir

Case Study 1 – Nazmunnisa Hukkeri:
“I am so happy to see this much meat for the first time in
my life” says Nazmunnisa, a beneficiary of the Qurban
“Foundation in India. “It has been a long time since we ate
any meat”, said Nazmunissa. The family received 2 KG
of meat from the Qurban Foundation in India.
Nazmunnisa is a 34 years old uneducated woman from a
family of poverty. She lives in a slum area of SM Krishna
Nagar, old Hubli, Karnataka, India. She was married
young. At first her husband was good after some days her
husband was torturing her daily and she was in a lot of
mental and physical torture from her husband and this
went on up
to 7 years. After her younger son Mohd
Zubeer was born it became un tolerable and
she took divorce from her husband. Since
then now 2 years have passed and she is
staying with her parents. Her parents gave
one small room beside their house without
any proper facilities. Nazmunissa has one
daughter and three sons. Her elder son
Mohd Sadiq is blind since birth and is
declared handicapped. Nazmunissa has
admitted him into the free blind school at
Hubli and he stays there. As Nazmunissa
has small kids she cannot go out and work
anywhere so she started rolling beedies to
get some small income. With that meager
amount it is difficult for her to look after the
three children. She cannot ask any help from
her parents as Nazmunnisa’s father is a poor
Auto-Driver who is also is aged. They must borrow money to meet any medical
requirements they face. The burden of taking care of her children alone is a heavy one
every day for Nazmunissa but Eid is especially hard.
9
The memories of the past days with her husband when he was good are strong, and they
contrast sharply with life as it is now. “When Eid comes, we feel depressed,” she said.
“There are no sweets, gifts, and new clothes. I don’t have enough money to get the Eid
needs, and we hope to get back to our old home one day so I can get everything for my
children.”
“During Eid the children will ask for good food and clothes, but I am unable to meet
their requirements. By seeing other children in my area my children will come and
cry and ask for the good food but I am helpless. It has been a long time since they
ate any meat”
“This year for the first time I received
a donation from the Qurban
Foundation containing a 2kg meat
packet. I am so happy to see this
much meat for the first time in my life.
Qurban Foundation has helped me to
feed my children with good food. I am
very glad to receive the meat pack”.
After many days the children could smell
the aroma of meat cooking again and
feel full in the way their normal meals
didn’t make them feel. The children are
very happy, laughed and played and
cooked Eid meat and gave some meat to
her parents also. Nazmunissa and her
family were very happy to receive this
help, Nazmunissa said, “Thanks to
Qurban Foundation and its donors this is
the first time I am receiving this much
fresh meat. We are very happy and May
Allah bless all the Donors who have
been helping people like us. I could not
make my family smile but you did”, They
are very much happy for the help and conveyed their glad wishes to the humble donors.

Case Study 2 – Sayeera Banu:
“We want to eat meat sometimes but we cannot afford it.
Today on Eid day Qurban Foundation has distributed 2kg
fresh meat. I feel lucky to have been got this fresh meat, I
can feed my children after a long time a happy meal and
also dry some meat and save it”
39-year-old Sayeera Banu struggles to provide food for her
family of four children and her husband and mother-in-law.
She works as a laborer in neighboring houses. Since her
husband did not have any family responsible she has stepped
up to take care of their needs, though she gets very little. It is
difficult to find work and rely on a regular income. She earns
only the equivalent of Rs 1500(USD 23.39) per month, and all of it is spent trying to feed her
family.
They live in a rented house in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Dharwad, which is characterized by extreme
poverty. “Struggling for food now is a part of my everyday life,” she said. “Every day when I wake
up, I am thinking how to find food for my children. Every day there is one question in my mind—
will I be able to feed my children today? As every day prices are getting higher … It is very hard
to support myself and my children.”
She tries to save every single rupee for
her children’s food.
Sayeera Banu said, “My children are
my hope and my future, everything that
I am doing is just to make their future
better. Without them, I would not be
alive. I pray to my Allah to give the
brightest future for my children.
During Qurban, volunteers surveyed and
found the most deprived and needy
households for distribution of 2kg
Qurban meat provided through Qurban
Foundation. The family received this
blessing happily with smiling faces. They
were very thankful to the Qurban
Foundation Donors. “Eating meat gives nutrition to our body and strengthens us”, said Sayeera Banu
with a smile.
11
The meat they receive from the Qurban Foundation for Qurban is a very special treat. “I want to
feed delicious foods to my family,” she told volunteers. “We normally eat rice with dal or
vegetables. We want to eat beef or meat sometimes, but we rarely do. However, today I have a
privilege to cook meat for my whole family. I will surely see the smiling faces of my family when we
have our dinner this evening. I would like to say thank you so much to the donor who contributed
the meat for Eid, this is one of our very special occasions
“All the time my children and I pray to Allah that may Allah help those who helped us, even
more than what they did for us. … My message for donors is that their help counts a lot”.

Regional Summary:
Due to escalation of conflict in Rakhine State, thousands of
Rohingya refugees fled to India by boat across the treacherous
Bay of Bengal. These people left their homes and belongings
behind seeking refuge, only to face difficult living conditions upon
their arrival. Qurban Foundation strived to be the first to provide
these very needy people with aid and fresh Qurban in order to
relieve some of their suffering. With the help of local volunteers,
we successfully distributed Qurban on the first three days of Eid
to refugees across three regions of India, reaching a total of 1250
Rohingyan beneficiaries.

Regional Summary:
Alhamdullilah, this is our fifth year distributing Adahi/Qurban in Lebanon, all due to Allah. We are
the first organization to send Qurban by Air, resulting in beneficiaries receiving fresh Australian
Qurban by the fourth day of Eid instead of frozen meat months afterwards. The process involved
meat pickup following customs clearance at Beirut airport and transport by refrigerated trucks to
the distribution centres. The professionalism and resulting high quality and freshness of the meat
left very good impressions upon the local population, with volunteers keen to work with us again in
the future. This is
unprecedented and the
beneficiaries were thus
able to enjoy their
portions before the end
of Eid ma sha Allah! The
distribution was only
successful due to the
dedication of our
hardworking volunteers
who struggled tirelessly
around the clock to
ensure the appropriate
movement and handling
of the prepared Qurban.

Regional Summary:
The agony and suffering of the Syrian people has been unmatched around the world this decade.
Qurban Foundation has been one of the many organisations who have tried to make a difference
for the Syrian people this Eid. We were first on the ground to distribute Qurban following delivery
both by air freight and slaughter of locally sourced carcasses before the end of the fourth day of
Eid. Our team worked
endlessly alongside
local municipality
members to
successfully manage
this project, overseeing

Regional Summary:
As the drought and internal conflict takes its toll, many Somalians were adversely affected.
Their living conditions in these regions are devastatingly substandard. Qurban Foundation
was able to reach some of these severely impoverished and malnourished people within
Somalia as well as within Somali refugee camps in Ethiopia. We were able to distribute
Qurban in Adado, Hargeele, Afdheer zone and JakJakka camp. 400 locally sourced
Qurban were slaughtered providing enough meat for 5600 individual beneficiaries.
Somalia was our most challenging distribution due to the nature of the civil war and the
tribal infighting. Alhamdullilah we were still able to complete this project.

Conclusion:
By the will of Allah, the 2017 Qurban Appeal was a great success reaching 31,310 beneficiaries
regardless of the challenges, dangers and struggles we faced. A lack of Government co-operation
in the participating countries and their restrictive regulations were overcome by the tireless hard
work of our organisation and the teams of volunteers that we partnered with. This does not include
the Qurban distributed to our needy brothers and sisters across Victoria. On behalf of the Qurban
Foundation we would like to thank all those who donated their Qurban with us this year, the
volunteers and organisations we partnered with and the staff of Madina Halal Meats, as well as the
countless Australian Islamic societies and organisations who made this project possible.
