The “Days of Vengeance” arrive in order to fullfill the words of the prophets concerning the destruction of Jerusalem. This time is an opportunity to testify of me. For I will provide irrefutable words for followers to say when they are accused. When you see Jerusalem surrounded then its laying waste is near, therefore flee from Jerulsalem’s punishment, the fulfilment of what was written. Jews will be led away captive into all nations, and killed, and Jerusalem will be trodden down by the Gentiles UNTIL the time of the gentiles is completed. Luke 21: 12-24 Jesus weeps over Jerusalem. This shall come upon this generation and prophesies it’s overthrow. God is abandoning your house to you, leaving it desolate. These buildings will be totally destroyed. The Jewish/Roman war began in AD 66 when many Jews rebelled against six decades of Roman occupation, punitive taxation and repression. Fighting lasted nearly forty-two months from Spring AD 67 to September AD 70. The decisive event was a 4 month siege surrounding Jerusalm from 14th April ending on 8th September. Then destruction of the Temple was followed by a week of sacking and burning of Jerusalem as Roman forces levelled the city to the ground.The last Jewish stronghold at Masada was taken in AD73. The grisly catastrophic siege conditions were unspeakable, with starvation, thirst, violence and death. According to the historian Josephus, an ex-Jewish military General who switched to the Roman side, about one and a quarter million Jewish people were killed or starved to death during the seige and 93,000 young people were taken and dispersed as slaves. Most of Jesus’ followers did escape and “not a hair on their heads perished.” refer to Luke 21:18. Reportedly they left when Jerusalem was first surrounded and went to the city of Pella in northern Trans-Jordan about 70 km north east and 27 km south of the Sea of Gallilee.
