In 1980 The first plastic Rubiks cube was made. The became an instant hit and people around the world were buying them left and right. Nowadays the Rubiks cube is still popular and is one of the most popular difficult toys in the world that most children and even adults enjoyed the challenging game. Since 1980 the Rubiks cube company have made different and more difficult Rubiks cube.

Dolly Partons song “9 to 5” hit the CMA billboards top 100 countdown. The song was so popular that it stayed on the billboard charts for 3 weeks straight. Since the song was so popular the directors decided to make a film with her in it and had a great time filming it she says. Dolly Parton has come up with many great songs such as Jolene, Country Road, Best Woman Wins, Wild Flowers, and many more to come.

1982

1982 Dean Smith wins the tarheels first national championship title against Georgetown. The UNC coach Dean Smith went six previous trips to the final four. Everyone on the team wanted to win the national title, Who wouldn't after going to the final four six previous times and not winning them? As Michael Jordan throws in a 3-pointer with only a couple seconds on the shot clock , MJ wins the game against the Georgetown Hoyas 63-62. The seventh trip to the final four was a great expirience, and the North Carolina Tarheels at Chapel Hill who went home with a victory all because of Michael Jordan who a couple years later went to the Chicago Bull and became an NBA MVP 5 times, 6 time NBA finals MVP, and 3 time All-Star winner. He is now the coach of the Charlotte Bobcats. And now the coach of North Carolina is Roy Williams who was the assistant coach for Dean Smith but before, Roy Williams started coaching for UNC he was a head coach for Kansas University.

In 1983, Almost at the end of the year The Cabbage Patch Kids were adopted(sold) to thousands and thousands of kids across the nation and sold almost 3 Million Cabbage Patch Kids. The Cabbage Patch Kids broke the record for the most successful new toy in the famous toy industry. The dolls were featured in a magazine called Newsweek. The cabbage patch kids made it to Time Square (New York) and Toys R Us. The dolls were more popular than Geoffrey the Giraffe who was Toys R Us's Mascot. July 27th the dolls were adopted in less than 15 minutes.

In 1984 The United States woke up on January 1, 1984 to discover that the telephone lines still work. AT&T started the day with a new company. 1,009,000 employees of it retained 373,000. the people chose the bell logo name under agreement with the other telephone company's. There was a drastic change with the other companies because AT&T was better and everyday more and more people wanted them as their phone company. At&t hit the international market and nearly 200 countries loved AT&T.

1985

In 1985 Julius Erving was born February 22, 1950. He was an American collegiate and professional basketball player. Julius Erving played for the 76ers in the 1980's He was 6'6” tall. He played as a forward and was known for his fast breaks and his graceful leaps through the air towards the basket, and climatic slam dunks. Julius Erving won a scholarship to the University of Massachusetts, and in just 2 seasons he became one of the only five players to score 20 points and 20 rebounds. Julius Erving decided later that he wanted to go pro with the New York Nets two years later. 1985 he was voted most valuable player, and later retired in 1987 and is a 3rd time professional player who has a career high of a total 30,000 points. Erving is now a sports analyst and so far he is better than ever.

1986In 1986- Maryland basketball star Len Bias is dead at age 22 June 19,. Len Bias was

an all-American basketball player. Len Bias later after he went pro he went to his dorm room and when his friends decided to go wake him up for some basketball practice they found him dead and immediately called 911 and just a couple minutes later the ambulance came and drove him straight to the hospital. The doctors say that he had cocaine in his blood system even though his friends/teammates said that he was in fairly good condition. His friends found him dead 2 hours later.

1987

1987- The New York Giants beat the Denver Broncos 39-20 in the Super Bowl XXI. The Denver Broncos worked very hard to finely get to the super bowl. Slowly the game started to get more and more defensive and safely made the lead of 10-9 at half-time. The giants received their first field goal for a 39-13 lead with only 4 minutes left of the game. Denver Broncos had one more chance to bring the game 39-20. The Denver broncos are still not giving up and are still waiting for them to win the next Super-Bowl.

1988

1988- Mario Lemieux plays for the Pittsburgh penguins. Mario is without a doubt one of the best hockey players to ever play the

game of hockey. He is in the top 5 list and some people have a list with him being the top 3 people. Mario Lemieux is an amazing hockey player because he played hockey with a chronic back some hip injuries, and Hodgkin disease.

1989In 1989 Batman the movie was made in 1989 by director Tim Burton and the

Warner Bros. Production helped make and produce it. The critics gave the movie a C+ and 2 1/2 stars. Since that the movie did not so good Tim Burton and his crew have made a great recovery from the not so good movie. The films flaws were hard to overlook because the film was not what the critics expected it to be. Since then Tim Burton has created and directed amazing movies such as Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Coraline, Sleepy Hollows, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, and so much more with famous actors and actresses such as Johnny Dept, Anne Hathaway, and many others.
