DESCRIPTION
Kallen Forster created a socially responsible and sophisticated Spring/Summer 2013 capsule collection. Her collection partnered with international cooperatives that train, empower, and employ women within their villages through design techniques. The collection featured intricate hand beaded Kenyan and loom woven Peruvian designs from each cooperative that were constructed using Forster’s creative patterns. She then combined these historically traditional textile forms with eco-friendly hemp based fabrics into classic silhouettes with modern twists. Each of the runway pieces are being auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going back to the cooperatives that helped inspire and create this contemporary collection.TRANSCRIPT
