Fact or Fiction?Fact or Fiction? When making wine, the color, type, and
size of grape, as well as whether it is a seed grape or seedless grape, determines the color and taste of the wine?
Trick Question!!!Trick Question!!! The answer is Fact AND Fiction. If you
guessed that, you were right. If not, well, you were wrong
Red WineRed Wine Red Wines are made from either purple or black
grapes, otherwise known as dark grapes The color of the wine does not come from the juices
inside the grape, because the juices are white or clear in all grapes
The skin of the dark grapes are left to ferment with the juices, where the red pigments of the skin leach into the juices, changing the color from clear to red
Rosé WineRosé Wine
Rosé Wines are in between White and Red, also known as ‘Blush’ Wines
Rosé Wines are made through the obvious fermentation of grape juices, however instead of leaving all the skin from dark grapes in, only a little skin is left in where pigments mix with the juices, giving it a pink or very light red color
Also, Rosé Wines are made from adding a certain amount of Red Wine to a fermenting White Wine
White WineWhite Wine
White Wines can be made from dark or light grapes, however if using dark grapes be sure that no skin is allowed in the juice when fermenting so skin pigment does not mix with the juice
The color of White Wine comes from the removal of all skins, whether dark or light, and is solely the fermentation of the tasty grape juices
