The next size up from that, considered the standard in vertical pianos, is the studio. A studio is the type one sees most often in schools, theaters, etc. standing at forty-five to forty-eight inches in height and around fifty-eight inches wide.

The tallest of the vertical pianos is the classical upright, standing at fifty to sixty inches tall, it plays a very rich tone. This is the piano that provided the music for the early to mid-20th century American musical renaissance.
