PR Arm, nodal agency and mouthpiece of the

Government.

Creates awareness, informs

and publicises.

Takes into account the concerns and views of

the public.

Ensures that the government is visible,

accessible and answerable to the public.

Functions

Aims to get the widest possible coverage through print, TV, radio, outdoor and internet media.

Informs through press releases, press conferences, exhibitions and by publishing brochures and

booklets.

Does not release newspapers/ journals which incite communal passion, preach violence, etc.

Accomplishes publicity functions through its 8 units.

Publicity Units

Provides ready reference material for different publicity oriented activities.

Library is being maintained.

About 20 newspapers and 27 hard copies of news clippings are prepared everyday.

Research And Reference Unit

Arranges Press Conferences, Press briefings and Press Tours of media persons.

Keeps liaison with Press, Radio and T.V.

Issues daily Press Releases and Press Accreditation Cards to reporters.

Maintains Media Facilitation Centre.

Organizes regular meetings of Delhi Press Accreditation Committee.

Advertisement Unit

Organizes publicity through advertisements in print media.

Issues advertisements on important occasions like Independence

Day, Republic Day, etc.

There are 11 Group ‘A' agencies and 62 Group ‘B' agencies empanelled by the

GNCTD.

Publication Unit

Prints publicity literature, calendar, telephone directory, booklets, brochures, posters, etc.

Publishes on important achievements and the campaigns of Delhi government.

Trilingual monthly magazine ' DilliMasik ' (in Hindi, Punjabi & Urdu) is brought out.

Annual Working Reports of the Government are published.

Film & Video Publicity Unit

Produces documentaries, short films, and feature films for publicity.

Gets 'spots' for TV and 'jingles' for radio.

"Delhi Round Up" on DD reflects the developmental activities and programmes.

Made short films on Bhagidari, traffic, education, etc. in 07-08.

Photo Unit

Arranges photo coverage of functions and activities of various

departments.

Releases photos to Press and Television for publicity.

Prepares photographs for exhibitions and photo albums.

Field Publicity Unit

Organizes photo-exhibitions and cultural programmes.

Puts up banners, kiosks, electronic boards & hoardings.

Mounted about 100 outdoor originals on Bus Queue Shelters, public utility

sites, and metro coaches.

Arranges hospitality for reporters and media persons during press

conferences and meets.

Distribution of invitation cards, seating

arrangement, ushering and publicity works are carried out.

In a democratic set up, people should know about the programmes of the Government and

participate in them.

DIP disseminates information about the Government policies, programmes, schemes

and measures.

It generates public respect for the ruling administration.
