Brothers of the Force
I hope you enjoyed your Halloween and any fun amusement parks or events in October. I want to thank everyone who suited up in Star Wars Gear for the Shrine Dance. It was awesome to see the different costumes our members dis-played as well as their Spirit which was Duly Taken.
I want to see that same spirit gleaming at the Northern California Con-vention, November 24th to the 25th. Join the Jurisdiction Officers and Presidents caravan Saturday at 2am from the DeMolay Center to the Doubletree Hotel in Sac-ramento. You must register for the event (with League administrator approval) and find your own transportation,
We also have the Winterfest crawling down the chimney. There will be a Dinner at 6:30pm and Auction at 7:30 to benefit Relay for Life. The Holiday Dance follows at 8pm. Get your PRESALE TICKET for Dinner and Dance at 10$ or Dance only at 7$ from the Jurisdiction and League leaders. It’s a casual dance so don’t be shy to wear holiday apparel. The Jurisdiction Officers drove to Grand Chapter the day following broomball. The speech I gave emphasized our respect for womanhood. Also the need of motherly support, the impact of our com-munity service, and the opportunity we have to change the future. We all know the reasons we enjoy DeMolay. In all the fun activities and job like duties; we overlook the fact that everything can be translated into a lesson. Try sitting down with prospects and have a decent conversation with them. Let me when you find it out and it may change your view on your role In DeMolay. One Jedi saved a galaxy, Jaques protected the Order, and One DeMolay; you …. Chris Baker
An ordinary DeMolay
Jedi Knights! You did well fending off the Sith at the Shrine Dance and at Broomball
they were marveled by our dance moves and everyone had a good time! I am very impressed at all the Initiations and DeMolay Degrees that have even oc-curring as of late I am confident that with this continued success a fifth straight year of membership growth is within our reach! Keep promoting your events and share the brotherhood we all enjoy , one important comment that I cannot stress enough is bringing leaders into our Order . Take time to mentor and help your brothers and show them the great lessons you have learned and teach them how to lead your chapters and leagues. Make it so that when the new brethren come they will have the same opportunities you have had and this Order will continue to burn brightly for generations to come. Jurisdiction Football will be occurring on November 17th in Redlands at McKinley Elementary School. It is 6-8 man teams and you must bring your medical release forms to the event as well as mouth guards you must have them in order to play. Registration for Teams will be at 8:30AM, first game is at 9AM SHARP! Eligibility forms are due to the Jurisdiction Office by 5pm on November 14th (the Wednesday prior). Stay Classy SCJ and May the Force be With You! “When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master.” “Only a master of evil, Darth.” Fraternally, Kevin Gonzalez SCJ Deputy Master Councilor

Hello SCJ,
Neo-Trital League is only heating up as spring comes to winter in this Halloween fright fest! Our
Neo-Trital League Flag Football Tournament brought some exciting results. Atwater Chapter
became the victors against L.C. Kelley Chapter making me do a total of at least 28 push-ups
(seven pushups for each touchdown made in two games)! I had a great time at the game and I congratulate both teams for playing and showing me how
football really is played. Also, we had a fun time at Neo-Trital’s rifle practice and I can’t wait to see some more chapters out there and to see how they are
doing! As always, here are some exciting events coming up in Neo-Trital:
On Saturday, November 3, we invite everyone to come to Antelope Valley Chapter’s Installation of Officers in Lancaster Masonic Lodge (44702 Cedar Avenue,
Lancaster, CA 93534) at 7pm.
On Thursday, November 15, we have our first League meeting of the new SCJ year at Old West Masonic Lodge (19310 Avenue of the Oaks, Newhall, CA
91321) with DeMolay Dress starting at 7:30pm! Please contact me (Greg Groshko) at my email for more information: [email protected]
Finally, on November 17, we invite everyone to come to Hollywood Chapter’s FIRST Installation of Officers since re-
opening at 19620 Ventura Boulevard, Tarzana, CA 91356 (Time TBA)!
The Chapters of Neo-Trital League thank you for reading Neo-Trital League’s October 2012 Preceptor. May the force
be with you during this ham-ful November!

Greetings from Highland!
October has been an interesting month for Highland, with both Foothill,
and GWC having their semi-annual installation of officers. Congrats to Glenn Reese (SC) and Jesus Martinez (JC) of
Foothill, and John Rose III (JC) of GWC. Its their leadership that will keep Highland League progressing along the great
path it is already heading down.
Coming up on November 3rd, is the Highland League Lock-in. It is open to the entire Jurisdiction, and will be going from
7PM, to 7AM Sunday morning, and we are asking 5 dollars for admission. However, if you have a prospect to bring, they
get free admission! We all hope to see you there for a very fun night of Games, Movies, (and lets be serious) Craziness.
Also, on November 18th, we are planning a trip out to the Covina Masonic Homes, to have some lunch with the resi-
dents, and then perform the Flower and Father talk for anyone who lives there, and would
like to watch. As more details get planned, please don't hesitate to reach out to me for infor-
mation, if you would like to join us.
Happy Thanksgiving SCJ,
Ted Baker

Hello SCJ:
In the past month, I have traveled within Diamond League, helping the chap-ters with their events. Liberal Arts Chapter volunteered at Zamfest, a youth festival which helps the youth inhabit fundamental tools that are needed for our changing society. South Bay Chapter participated in selling sno cones at the Manhattan Beach Home-town Fair, its largest annual fundraiser. San Pedro Chapter co-hosted a prospect party with Diamond League where Be-thel #24 and LA Harbor Lodge #322 brought prospects. Theodore Roosevelt chapter initiated Jonathan Afari at Long Beach Chapter's Membership class on October 11, 2012. In Diamond League, we have a couple events in the works: On November 10, 2012, Dia-mond League Soccer at Blanco Park 8 am- 12 pm and November 27, 2012, Diamond League Meeting at Liberal Arts Lodge 7:30pm. Sonora League To our Brothers, Sisters, and Parents from Sonora League, SCJ, and Beyond-
Hey everyone, so glad to see that the Leagues and SCJ are already off to a great start this term. I would like to
congratulate the Jurisdiction and all of us on achieving a fourth year of positive growth. Sonora has been a huge part of that with the members that have come into all
6 chapters over the last year. Speaking of the 6 Chapters, a big thank you to Paladin for having us participate in your first initiation, it was a blast, and we can’t wait to make it out to the desert, especially when it cools down a bit. Also, big congratulations to Jake and Isabella Ceja, who were Installed as the Master Councilor and
Sweetheart of Fellowship Chapter. With a great corps of officers, Fellowship is aiming even higher than the incredible year they have had.
Coming up this month, we have our league Ontario Reign Hockey Game on the 4th of November. Tickets are only $13.00, and you can get those from Dad
Galba Bright, our league officers, and me. Make sure to wear red, white, and blue, as it will be Military Appreciation Night. We pay tribute to the brave men and
women protecting us at home and overseas, and we invite all of SCJ and our numerous heroes across Southern California to join us for a night of fun and fellowship and thanksgiving to our troops. Let me know if you have questions or if you want tickets. Also this month, we are happy to be having Kyle Wood lead Redlands
Chapter to another successful term starting on Saturday, November 10th. This Installation will start at 7:00pm, and we want as many representatives of Sonora and
SCJ there, so come out and support our Redlands brothers and sisters as they are installed into their new positions.
I can’t believe it is already November, time sure flies when you are having fun! On behalf of our league officers
and staff, I wish you and your family a happy and safe Thanksgiving later this month, right before the SCJ Jedi Knights take the greatness of the SCJ Jedi Order to Northern California’s Convention. Once again, if you have any questions about the
League or our events, you can reach me using my email address ([email protected]) and I hope to see you all soon.
Thanks so much everyone!

So far, throughout this year, Royal Coast has been getting
out there and seeing all our fellow brothers and sisters in the
jurisdiction with our installation visits. Royal Coast hasn’t
had much change so far but we are getting there. Not much really going on for the league in the month of
November, on November 7th is a league visitation to agate chapter, come on down to Escondido and sup-
port the brotherhood in RCL. And on the 10th we will hold our league football (more details TBA). I hope
everyone is having a good time out there and hope to see you all at the next jurisdiction event.
Happy Thanksgiving,

Hey SCJ,
This year is off to a great start, especially with the amazing news that we have reach our fourth year of consecutive growth! Coming
up here in Paradise is Long Beach chapter's installation on November 3rd and our annual Casino Night on November 16th at the
Bellflower Masonic Center. For $5 there will be fun casino games, specialty drinks (first one is free), and even a dungeon to lock up
for friends for $1 plus they have to either pay to get out or wait! Also reserve the day February 22nd, that's Paradise's Spaghetti Din-
ner and Auction at Bellflower where great food will be served by Dad Finnefrock who is using an
80 year old family recipe that is just amazing, and even greater items will be up for bid. The money
from the dinner and auction will go towards the league's honors night and sports events. Lets keep
up the good work SCJ!

St. Bernard’s Priory
Page 9 The Preceptor
Ladies and gentlemen of SCJ,
It gives me great pleasure to be able to submit an article into The Preceptor on
behalf of the newly re-instated Saint Bernard Priory. We have been working very hard to get this Priory going over the past several months
and are in the final stages of preparation for all of the programs that we intend to implement.
If you are not yet familiar with what a Priory is (and does), here is a brief outline of our purposes:
“The Order of Knighthood is an appendent organization of Older DeMolays. The Knighthood program is for active DeMolays between 17 and
21 years of age who are organized into a subordinate unit known as a Priory with its own officers and ritual.
[…]
The main functions of a Priory are to:
1. Extend and assist the Order of DeMolay and its Chapters [by providing our Jurisdiction with traveling degree teams which will facilitate
the performance of degrees for our chapters].
2. Maintain the active interest of older DeMolays.
3. Provide an interesting program for the Priory members.
Above all to provide and maintain a proper example for all DeMolays.”
(DeMolay International)
In addition, we will be promoting drives for membership and will extend a helpful hand to those who seek counsel on everyday matters. Re-
member; treat us as if we were your “big brothers.” We are here for YOU!
Our jurisdiction is going through a period of revitalization. We are growing in membership, increasing the number of operational chapters,
and improving our programs in an effort to set the bar a few notches higher for our brethren. We believe that the Priory will be a driving force
in our continued expansion.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve this Jurisdiction and am convinced that, with your help, we will be able to achieve a great deal
of success.
Sincerely,
George Goldman
Illustrious Knight Commander of the Saint Bernard Priory

Congratulations to all New Chapter Officers!!

Hello Southern California Jurisdiction!
It is the month of November which means tons of events are around the corner! Jayme and I have a lot in
store for our year as you’re SCJ Ladies, as she has mentioned in her article there will be a bake sale at foot-
ball, and we really hope that we can satisfy your hunger for tasty treats, and quench your thirst with any can
of soda. Don’t forget the canned food drive being held at SCJ Football, this will determine spirit points for the
League, which ever League provides the most Canned Food will be awarded with the Philanthropy Points.
With that being said, Jayme and I would love if everyone could help us out by talking to your parents, ex-
tended family and friends about our Pampered Chef “FUN”raiser, we have little booklets that we will be hand-
ing out at the different events that we may see you at, where we will be able to give you the details on how
the pampered chef program works. Think of what a great gift any of these baking, and cooking items could
be for your family members and friends! Remember the holiday season is right around the corner, which means lots of food
and preparation! So why not use some reliable pampered chef ware! All of these proceeds will go to the Sweethearts program,
which runs on its own funds. <3 I am looking forward to seeing new and familiar friends in my future travels!

Hello SCJ DeMolay!
I am looking forward to all the achievements, spirit, and unforgettable memories throughout SCJ. I want to again thank all the
young men of SCJ for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve as your Jurisdiction Princess. The Sweetheart program is
continuing to thrive and know that we will have another successful year. Caitlin and I are looking forward to the year ahead
and have several great ideas that we can’t wait to share with you. We have a great group of league ladies this year, and I know
they will all do a fantastic job in their respective leagues. As we are in the middle of Installation season, I hope to see everyone
traveling around and supporting the chapters within your league. I know that the Chapters love seeing your friendly faces at
their events. Our next big event is SCJ Flag Football on November 17th at McKinley Elementary School in Redlands. There will
also be a Powder Puff game for the ladies and you need to be a past or present Sweetheart or Princess to be eligible to play in
the game. Please let Caitlin or I know if you are interested in playing. You will also need a medical release and a mouth guard
in order to participate in the Powder Puff game. The ladies of SCJ will also be having a Bake Sale at SCJ
Football. So don’t forget to bring your change to purchase some of the wonderful goodies that will be on sale
at the Bake Sale. Lastly, Northern California DeMolay convention will be taking place Thanksgiving weekend,
November 23-25, and I would love to see SCJ attend in large numbers. Chris, Kevin, Caleb, Caitlin and I have
planned a year full of entertainment, excitement, and surprises. Remember that we are here to assist and
support all of you, so let’s make this year unforgettable!

My Fellow Americans….just kidding,
My brothers I hope you have enjoyed the new changes to the Preceptor and letting you to look for it every
month now. That’s right a Preceptor will be issued every month this year. We have also decided to include this year arti-
cles from the St. Bernard’s Priory as well as the Squires in Neo-Trital. Also thank you to those who expressed your opin-
ions on the post about the Preceptor. I have taken into consideration all of the posts and will be continuing some of the
changes through-out the year. Also thank you to all the chapters who have been submitting pictures, it definitely show
the brotherhood that this Jurisdiction is known for in all of ISC.
Coming up in the Jurisdiction we have three very big events this month. First from November 9-11, the St. Ber-
nard’s Priory will be traveling to Henderson, NV for a special Priory Investiture and Membership Class the was asked for
by the Grand Master of DeMolay International. If you see and members congratulate them on this incredible opportunity
they have been given. Second on November 17th is SCJ Football, same location as last year so I look forward to seeing all the new chapters
compete as well as some returning champions. And finally from November 23-25 team SCJ will be traveling up to N.C.D.A. for their conven-
tion, if you would like to go contact any of the Jurisdiction officers.
Some amazing news in the Jurisdiction Hollywood Chapter is having their very first installation of officers on November 17th after
SCJ Football and Garden Grove Chapter will also be having their first installation on November 30th. Please come out and support them.
Congratulations to all the new chapter officers. I look forward to seeing you all at your upcoming meetings and league meetings.
If anyone has any pictures they would like to see in the Preceptor please submit them to [email protected].

Greetings from the Squires!
New Valley Manor #1, part of Neo-Trital League, is having a very successful first term. Since our very first initiation and installation on July 28, we have kept the fun and brotherhood going. Many thanks to the
Knights of St. Bernard’s Priory who were instrumental in our initiation and installation.
The Squires will be having a mini golf outing prior to Hollywood Chapter’s installation on 11/17. (Check the cal-endar and join us if you aren’t going to football.) We’ll also see you at the installation after. The Squires have also been collecting canned goods all term and will be donating it to a local food pantry next month.
Our first ever Squires Lock-in Sleepover was a great success! Between the whipped cream pie eating contest, video games and awesome slippers on display, we were laughing most of the night! This event has been requested as a repeat for every term.
We will be having elections at our December 20 meeting and the position of Sir Knight is open. Any active DeMolay (except MC and SC – we don’t want you to be too busy!) from Neo-Trital League is welcome to apply for the position. However you must be at least 17 years of age by the installation in February to submit a letter of intent. Please contact us for the letter of intent.

the dance which will be tons of fun.
The ladies have planned a Bake-sale for the day of SCJ Football, so please bring your change

It was a blast to see so many different costumes, and I continue to look forward to seeing you all

Greetings SCJ!
November is such a busy month for SCJ DeMolay. The first weekend in November is our first gathering of leadership since Con-clave at DeMolay Headquarters in Anaheim. The PSA meeting starts at noon on Sunday, upstairs in the small meeting room nearest the top of the stairs. Please bring your up-to-date calendars and any ideas you are willing to share for everyone. If you are serving on a committee and need to make a report, be prepared! Saturday night, the 3rd, I wish to invite all of you to attend either Long Beach Installation and then head out to the Highland League Lock in!
The deadline for the best price to attend Nor-Cal’s Convention during the Thanksgiving weekend is the 4th of November. Go to their website and click on the Convention registration tab! Join us as we travel to share the DeMolay spirit in Northern California! Don’t forget to tell the EO that you plan to visit Nor Cal if you want to go!
Thursday the 8th is the Chevalier night of remembrance for Frank S. Land! Take time to find a brother Chevalier and break bread with him. As I am the Grand Commander of my own court, I will break bread with the Crossroads Court of Chevaliers in Norwalk
at Frantone’s near the 605 fwy and 91 fwy interchange! Dinner is buffet style for $20! If you can, we also ask for a $10 donation for our program to help out the local DeMolay chapters. Awesome food and great brothers to share company with! I know Newport Harbor is having a dinner before their degree meeting. If you live down that way, join them! My brother Chevaliers, remember to live up to your obligations and share your DeMolay spirit with the youth of today! Foothill and Conejo Valley are also hosting dinners! Check your SCJ calendar on the website for details to any and all of the above!
The next weekend SCJ is driving with 22 knights and 7 advisors in a car caravan to Henderson City, near Las Vegas on the 9 th thru the 11th to invest new knights, perform the degrees for a Grand Master’s Membership Class and attend an ISC regional conference. The Priory will be on show! We have the best ritualists in SCJ! While the Priory is in Nevada, don’t forget to support Redlands Chapter Installation at 1 PM and Walt Disney Chapter’s Installation at 7:30 PM that same Saturday Night, the 10th of November!
The third weekend of November is very busy! Paradise League has their League Meeting and a Casino Night on Friday night at the Bellflower Masonic Center. The theme is medieval dress! I guess it’s an Excalibur-type casino! Saturday the 17th is SCJ Flag Football in Redlands all day. That night I invite everyone to attend the start up of a new DeMolay Chapter! North Hollywood will be hosting their first installation! The squires are having a mini golf tourney that Saturday afternoon at 2 PM and will present the flag that night! The next day is Highland League’s Masonic Home’s visit starting at noon. A busy weekend!
Thanks giving weekend I will be driving with as many DeMolays and their supporters to Sacramento on Friday morning at 1 AM. We are meeting at the DeMolay Center in Anaheim and car caravan with anyone who wishes to join us. We will visit our DeMolay brothers in Northern California at their annual convention and changing of officers. It will be a busy and fun weekend! It will be a busier November!
Dad Vrsalovich, or just Dad V!

FROM THE E.O... To my DeMolay Family:
I like to start by congratulating the Jurisdiction and League officers
for deciding that SCJ should have the Preceptor issued on a monthly
basis. They informed me that a jurisdiction this large, needs to be
kept informed and that doubling the issues of our Preceptors and our
New more user friendly Website will accomplish the purpose.
They are correct, if SCJ is to continue to grow and be an example to all of DeMo-
lay on how a Jurisdiction that is a true Leader works, information must play a major
role. Communications is always the weakest link in most organizations. The Fact that SCJ has reached Positive Mem-
bership Growth for the 4th year in a row, and that SCJ it’s once again leading all DeMolay International in new mem-
bers for 2012 is a perfect example of this Leadership and Commitment to continuous Improvement! “We con-
tinue to make SCJ Membership History!”
November will be a GREAT month for SCJ. For the first time ever, our Jurisdiction has been invited to perform a
Priory Knighthood Investiture and also put on both DeMolay Degrees at the upcoming ISC regional training session,
which will be held in Henderson, Nevada. We’ll be initiating new brothers from Nevada, Arizona & California. As Ex-
ecutive Officer, I’m very excited and proud of our young men, for their Leadership, Brotherhood & Ritual abilities and
their unselfish wiliness to share them with others even across Jurisdiction lines.
Also in November, our Jurisdiction Officers will be traveling north to attend the Nor-Cal Convention during the
Thanksgiving weekend. Our JO’s have been doing a great job representing SCJ everywhere they go. We always enjoy
visiting our Brothers in the North; they make us feel welcome and part of the California Fraternal Family.
As we travel during the Holidays, let’s all remember that we need to be Safe!
“Which means, NO TEXTING while you’re driving!!!”
Fraternally,
Just Dad Key
