Provision of Solar LanternsLIGHT OF HOPE: Giving light to the dark lives!
80% of Balochistan’s population lives in complete darkness as they do not have access toelectricity! With no proper supply of electricity, clean drinking water and healthy livingenvironment, the coal-miners and their families undergo each minute as a torment.
Since the installation of the power-houses for electricity is out of the question for these remoteareas, as a powerhouse would require maintenance and these people consistently move fromone place to another.
We are determined to lessen the desolation of the poor people by providing them alternativemeans of light! HELP has initiated this project for distributing solar powered, rechargeablelights to the households which have no access to electricity.
Areas where HELP is active:
PHASE 1: Completed
PHASE II: In process
Area benefitted: Six villages in LoralaiBeneficiaries: Approximately 460
Area to be benefitted: Surange, Chamalang, DukiBeneficiaries: Approximately 4600

EDUCATIONSCHOOL PROJECT: REPAIR & RENOVATION:
The state of education in Balochistan is in extreme jeopardy; morethan 1.8 million children of ages between 5 – 16 years are out ofschools. As the area lacks opportunities and there is not much focuson improving the condition of schools and their maintenance, mostof the buildings of schools in barren mountainous areas aredecaying.
The biggest challenge for students and administrations is to copewith the harsh weather in winters as the temperature in these areascan fall below -5°C (23°F) and the schools do not even have desksfor students but rather have thin jute sheets spread across the floorsof the rooms for them to sit on in extreme cold. These classroomshave no proper doors or windows that could stop the breeze andcold from coming in as providing heating systems is not possible atthe moment because of absence of gas and electricity in the areaswhich is why parents are reluctant to send their children to school.
Many of the schools do not even have bathrooms and those who have; they are not in thecondition to be used. The provision of clean drinking water is very rare in the schools. All thesefactors having a negative impact on the development of students ‘cognitive skills; as a result, they show poor performance in studies and most of them drop out of schools.
HELP strives to tackle this alarming situation by adopting such schools and renovating them fortwo reasons; firstly, to create favorable conditions at schools in which students can learn andperform efficiently and continue their education. Secondly, to persuade more children to attendschool and gain education.
The ghost schools, adopted by HELP that needed to be refurnished and restructured are:
Iqra Taleem-ul-Quran English Medium School, Killi Jumma, in Jinnah Town Quetta Iqra Bait-ul-Islam middle school, Killi Shabo Govt. Primary Girls School, Killi Zangiwal Jogezai, Loralai Govt. Boys Middle School, Killi Zangiwal Jogezai, Loralai Iqra public School, Khanozai Jabal e Noor School, Pathan Kote, Loralai
