NOVEMBER 2018
2018 Board of Directors
Greetings to all and Happy November. Thanks to everyone for their help on dock day and throughout the lift and storage season. Things are a little cramped with construction soon to begin on the light house project and the east shore stabilization but we made it work. As we head in to the fall and winter season there is still plenty going on at the club. The Packers still play most Sunday’s and we still have a good time cheering and sometimes complaining. The Commodore’s Ball is Saturday November 3rd. Tickets are available until Sunday Oct 28
th. Come enjoy a good meal, good music and
see your friends dressed up for a change. A special thanks to my wife Jackie for all her hard work. The Veteran’s Day event is November 10
th and
the organizers could use help and / or an appetizer. The Smoker and pool seasons are in full swing so check the board for details. I’m sure there are many more events on the calendar to keep us all busy until spring comes. The November monthly meeting will offer members a couple of opportunities to participate in club business. This is the meeting where every full member has the chance to nominate or be nominated for one of the coveted seats on the board. At this meeting we will also vote on the proposed expenditure for dock upgrades. There will be a vote on spending $80K to upgrade the power and water on the south side and $10K for materials to continue the DARN project. As the year comes to an end, we also get closer to the GBYC annual meeting. This year’s meeting will be on Thursday December 13
th. This meeting is when we will elect the 2019 Board
of Directors along with voting on the 2019 dues and fee’s and any by-law changes that have been proposed. Have a great month and see you at the club. Jim

Hi everyone, November will be a very busy month. On Friday the 2nd is karaoke from 7 to 11 pm. Saturday the 3rd is the Commodore’s Ball. General meeting on the 8th. Come to that meeting, its always informative. It’s at 7pm. Friday November 9th, Pat Lucas and Sarah Saari will entertain us. Come for fish and stay for music 6 to 9 pm. On Saturday the 10th, not only is it my wife’s birthday, but also a great, emotional, Veteran’s Day ceremony at 11am. Wednesday 28th, is the smoker, cook is Dave Rott and crew with beef wellington on the menu. Also, every Tuesday night at 6:30, is the pool league. You don’t need to commit to every week. Come when you can, cost is only 3 dollars. Men and women welcome. Looking ahead, Children’s Christmas party is December 8th. Then the big annual meeting. Also for those of you who read my articles. On Saturday Dec.1 from 5 to 8, we are celebrating my retirement. Renee will have sloppy joes and snacks, and free beer! Have a great month and Happy Thanksgiving. Thanks, Gary
Just some housekeeping items this month. Todd will be starting Saturday afternoon lunch in the very near future. I will let Duck know when we are ready to start so he can inform everyone. The reason for the delay is we have a lot of functions coming up and Todd doesn’t want to be in the way. Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and Friday’s will continue as usual. As an added attraction on November 9
th Pat and Saari will be on hand for
entertainment during the Friday Fish fry. From time to time members ask to use a pan, dish, Nesco roasters and things like that. This is fine as long as you let a board member know, preferably the House Chair. The important thing is to bring it back then. Not two weeks later, if at all. Some people have the borrowing thing down, they just don’t have the bringing the items back down. Please, these items are owned by the club. Return them promptly. Until next month.

Ahoy everyone. Not much to report from the grounds this month. The small dumpsters are gone and the port a potties are winterized. Keep in mind that we will need a few people to help move the landscape bricks by the flag pole on Sunday November 11th. That's about it. See ya all around.

Hello All, Well,...the G.B.Y.C. Harbor is officially closed for the 2018 boating season. I would like to thank all the 'Lift Crews' for doing another exceptional job, greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank everyone who turned out for "Dock Day", excellent job by all. Thank you to Dan and Ann Emmel, for preparing our lunch for "Dock Day"....and a big thank you also to Chef Todd for grilling up the burgers and brats etc. If you have not yet paid for your "Winter Storage" please do so soon to avoid a late fee penalty being assessed, I believe invoicing is going out to those of you who have not
paid, so please make sure you are in good standing and your balance is paid in full. Construction will be starting very soon on the 'Light House' project and "East Shore Stabilization" project. There is a "NO PARKING ZONE"....in the south -side between the last boat on shore east of the Fuel Tank and the Fuel Pit, this area has been marked. Lastly I would like to say "thank you!" to our G.B.Y.C. Dock Attendant Joey for doing a Terrific job this summer!....nice work Joey! Well, that's it for now. Take care everyone, stay safe and we will see you at the club!....I'm Out!!! Steve
