CBDC Summertime Safety Tips

1.) Enjoy the Sun - Don’t Get Burned: Dermatologists suggest SPF 15 or greater sunblock.

2.) Bug Off: Mosquitos, bees, and ticks are especially active in summer. Wearing light colors and insect repelent with DEET can help keep the pests away.

3.) Take a Dip: Swimming is easy on the joints of folks with bleeding disorders, but take care to obey any posted pool rules, avoid swimming alone, and make sure to wait at least 30 minutes before jumping in the pool after a meal.

4.) Stay Hydrated: The summer heat is a major cause of dehydration - make sure to get plenty of water before, during, and after outdoor activities.

5.) Know Your Limits: Pay attention to what your body is telling you, if you need to cool down - find some air conditioning and relax.

States have had few options in health insurance exchange imple-mentation: a State-Based Ex-change, a Federal-State Partnership Exchange, or Federally Facilitated Exchange.

Since there is less than a year left before ex-changes must be operational, states that have not already begun implementation and plan on having an exchange will most likely have a partnership exchange or a federal ex-change.

Hispanic Bleeding Disorder Awareness The Comprehensive Bleeding Disorders Center hosted an education and aware-ness workshop for Hispanic families at our Peoria, Illinois location at 4727 N. Sheridan Rd. on Satur-day, April 20th. The workshop focused on local and state resources for Hispanic families. Dr. Os-valdo Wesly and Dr. Patricia Kinessa headlined the workshop as presenters. The event also featured activities for children while the adults attended the workshop.

Fiesta en el Rio

CBDC will once again be exhibiting in Downtown Peoria on July 28th for Fiesta en el Rio. Please contact our Hispanic Liaison, Maria Diaz, for more information about this event, (309)688-1345.
