The fund is a financial contribution towards the conference supporting activities that promote the conference internationally to increase delegate attendance and ensure its success. Some of the main features of this are support with print, website design, some assistance towards travel in the intervening years to promote Ireland to delegates and towards welcoming receptions for delegates in certain circumstances.

The Green Agenda is being adopted around the world and so businesses are being challenged to communicate how they minimise their environmental impact and what plans and targets they are implementing to make this a continuous process.
Many companies are also adopting environmental certification as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platforms and have set themselves targets and objectives to achieve each year. When booking meetings and events many Planners and Organisers are looking for suppliers that can support their internal CSR targets and objectives which allow them to communicate and complement these strategies when they run events.
Increasingly more in the conference, meeting and events sector are supporting these initiatives and customer requirements so as to maintain competitiveness, and there are many examples of this around the
world. To help, Dublin has risen to this challenge and can offer a range of environmentally certified businesses to conference and event organisers. This includes Conference and Event centres, accommodation, transport and other services. Many of the businesses within this Directory are at that level with others well on their way to attaining it.
Dublin is almost unique in the scale of Environmentally Certified Conference and Event businesses available and leading these are the three internationally recognised environmentally certified Conference and Event centres;

ISO 14001 and BS 8901 are 2 of the most recognised certification standards for the sector and these 3 centres operate Best Practices across their operations and embed good environmental performance in all their meeting and event activities.
They are supported by more than 30 hotels in the greater Dublin region that are also environmentally certified to internationally recognised standards - including hotels with extensive conference and banqueting facilities. Most 4 and 5 star hotels are either environmentally certified or are working towards certification - across all aspects of their business.Many other supporting businesses are working towards certification and are being led by the restaurant sector and by PCOs and DMCs. Dublin City also offers a range of services that can support a Green Event, including the Light Rail LUAS system, Rapid Transit DART rail service, extensive bus network and quick city access via the Port Tunnel from the airport which can deliver delegates to the city centre within 15 minutes of leaving Dublin Airport.
Dublinbikes is one of Europe’s most successful schemes and offers 44 stations throughout Central Dublin and visitors can get a 3 Day Ticket and cycle around Dublin to visit and enjoy the sights. Its success has been so great that an extensive expansion plan is in place through the City Council.

Air AccessDublin Airport is only 12km from city centre is served by more than 60 airlines offering over 170 direct routes, including scheduled daily flights from North America, mainland Europe, Britain and the Middle East. Terminal 2 at Dublin airport opened in November 2010 and is home to Aer Lingus as well as carriers from the USA, Emirates and Etihad.

Getting to City Centre from Dublin AirportThe short hop to the city centre is serviced by Aircoach and Dublin Bus Airlink. These coach companies serve the main areas and hotels in the city as well as main conference venues. A transfer to the city takes only 15 minutes using the Dublin Port Tunnel.
