Town Hall Mee ng

School Board member Bev Slough will hold a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, May 7, 6:30 PM ( t onight!) at Creekside High School. She will share information on changes to our schools next year, zoning process for the two new K-8 schools, and other items pertaining to St. Johns County Schools. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.

During May, TCE students will be participating in our Community Partnership Level Logo con-test.

In 2010, our three levels of Community Busi-ness Partners (Bald Eagles, Eagles, and Chicks) were first designed and now need to be updat-ed.

Through your student's regular Art resource time, Mrs. Witkowski will give all students a chance to create a new Community Partner logo. Kindergarten and 1st grade will draw a Chick logo, 2nd and 3rd grade students will draw an Eagle, and 4th and 5th grade students will create the new Bald Eagle logo. The new level logos will appear throughout

the year on Community Partner materials.

The contest winners will be selected by a panel of teachers and staff and will be announced on the Morning News. Chick and Eagle logo win-ners will each receive a $75 gift certificate from Young Rembrandts. Our Bald Eagle logo win-ner will receive a gift certificate for half-off a week of summer camp provided by KidzArt. Many thanks to KidzArt, Young Rembrandts, and Mrs. Witkowski for helping to make this possi-ble.

Parent Resource for Bullying

P A G E 3 T I M B E R L I N C R E E K

Here is a great website to help parents and students with issues related to bullying: http://www.education.com/reference/article/ten-actions-to-eliminate-bullying/

Parents and students are encouraged to report incidents of bullying to school staff so

concerns may be addressed in a timely manner. All students must feel safe at school!

Word of the Week

Decline

verb To slope downward. The walking path will decline around the next bend.

verb To become less in amount. I saw the price for video games decline after the holidays.

verb To refuse or say no. Rita would never decline an invitation to Jason’s birthday party.

verb To go to a lower level. Grandma’s health declined after leaving the hospital.

noun The period when something is coming to an end. The Roman Empire became a civilization in decline.

Lunch Account Balances

Students with a negative balance on their lunch account will be bringing home a reminder over the

next few weeks. All negative balances must be paid by May 15. For your convenience, you may visit

paypams.com to register and manage your child’s lunch account. This is a free tool that will let you

know your child’s outstanding balance.

Please help Mr. Mike balance his books by bringing your child’s account up to date as soon as possi-

ble!

SPMS BASKETBALL CAMP Switzerland Point Middle School will be hosting its Annual Summer Basketball Camp for boys & girls ages 6 – 14. The camp will have three one – week sessions June 10-13, July 29-August 1, and August 5-8. This is a fun filled camp where “Teaching Never Stops”. Don’t be left out of this year’s camp because the camp fills up fast. Please check your child’s school for a brochure or Ter-rance Singleton’s website at Switzerland Point Middle School. Questions/concerns, please call Coach Singleton ([email protected]) at 287-2626 or 547-8650.

Also, we are seeking donations or prizes for the students. (Example: gift certificate, T-shirt, coupons, drinks or candy). If any area business can contribute it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Thank you to all parents that offered to proctor for FCAT. Our testing ran smoothly

because of your willingness to help. I was amazed on more than one morning, when a

parent came just to make sure we had enough proctors and helped us fill a last

minute vacancy! A big thank you to the parents that volunteered to help even though

they weren’t sure they would be needed and were told we had enough proctors that

day. Your contribution is greatly appreciated and makes a difference for our students.

Our school is a better place every day parents like you are here to lend a hand!

With gratitude!

May 1, 2013

Hello Timberlin Creek Families:

Thank you so much for your generosity to South Woods over the year. We are beginning our

final collection for this school year. Once again we will collect much needed toiletry items.

Below are the items Mrs. Hutchins expressed the most need for. Like before we will divide the

items by grade level and gender. In addition, Timberlin’s PTO thought it would be nice to

donate any gently used school supplies that are left over from the year. Every year we see lots

of good supplies go in the trash at the end of the school year. Why not donate them to our

neighbors in need? You have the option to opt out on the next page if you would like your child

to save their individual gently used school supplies.

We will begin collecting next Monday, May 6th until Friday, May 24th. Please place any donated

items in the large, black bins provided in each house. Villas bins are located in Villa 5. Please

refer to the chart below for your grade level item.

Thank you so much for your consideration and your continued giving and caring spirit.

Together, we ARE making a difference!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Carla A. Gonzalez Reynolds
