Safety Information Throughout this manual, safety information is presented by the use of the terms WARNING, CAUTION, and NOTE. These terms have the following meanings:
WARNING A warning contains critical information regarding
potential safety hazards that can occur during proper use or misuse of the machine. Failure to follow these procedures may result in serious personal injury to the user.
CAUTION A caution contains instructions for the use or main-
tenance of the machine. Failure to follow these procedures may result in damage to the machine. Supplementary information may be given in a Note.
ELECTRICAL HAZARD An electrical hazard calls attention to a proce-
dure, practice, or the like, which, if not correctly performed or adhered to, could result in personal injury. Do not proceed beyond an Electrical Haz-ard.
Safety and Indemnification During the life of the machine, the purchaser agrees to provide to all machine users (including its own employees and independent contractors) all relevant safety informa-tion, including warning labels and instruction manuals. The purchaser also agrees to maintain the safety features and working condition of the machine, and to adequately train all users in the safe use and maintenance of the machine. The purchaser agrees to defend, protect, indemnify, and hold Eastman Machine Company and its subsidiaries harmless from and against all claims, losses, expenses, damages, and liabilities to the extent that they have been caused by the purchaser’s failure to comply with the terms and instructions of this manual.
General Safety Precautions
WARNING • This machine is equipped with powerful cradle
roller tubes. Keep hands, arms, and hair away from the cradle area and drive system at all times. Safety gloves, glasses, and appropriate clothing may prevent serious personal injuries.
• Disconnect the power supply to the machine when it is not in use or during routine maintenance, in-cluding cleaning and lubrication.
• The purchaser must instruct all operators in the proper use of the machine according to the instruc-tions in this manual. This training must include instruction on the potential safety hazards arising from the use or misuse of the machine. In addi-tion to such training, the purchaser should provide written work instructions as necessary to ensure correct use of the machine for specific cutting and spreading applications.
• Do not modify this machine or disable safety features. Unauthorized modification may result in serious personal injuries to the user. Electrical connections to this machine must be made by a qualified electrician familiar with applicable codes and regulations.
• Safety labels must be kept clean and legible at all times. Call the Eastman Machine factory to order replacement labels.

The Eastman Power Tilt Cradle is shipped partially disas-sembled with all the necessary parts for proper setup and operation. To get the best performance, familiarize yourself with all functions and adjustments of this equipment. Be-fore any operation can take place, it is important that you carefully read and follow the instructions in this manual in the same sequence in which they are presented.
INSTALLATION
Power Tilt Cradle InstallationThe Power Tilt Cradle weighs approx. 550 lbs. ( 250 kg) uncrated for a 66" machine. Wooden braces are strapped across the underside of its cross channels and the forklift arms should be raised to those braces when the machine is lifted.
CAUTIONWhen placing forklift arms under cross channels,
use care not to damage under carriage components.
Place power tilt cradle machine 15" [38 cm] from desired end of table, as shown in illustration on page 5. The cradle stand should be even with operator's side of the table. Level the power tilt cradle and secure to the floor, for proper and accurate edge control operation.
Mount the control box to the support frame (operator's side). Connect the Main Control Harness from the control box to the Harness Bracket, which is located on the power tilt cradle Stand.
Edge Upright Assembly InstallationLocate edge upright assembly sections in shipping crate and place on spreading table. Assemble upright assembly as shown in illustration on page 5. Locate Probe Assembly in shipping crate and mount to probe support on upright assembly. Connect the probe assembly wiring harness to the mating plug on cradle stand.
Place upright assembly at the edge of the spreading table, as shown in illustration on page 5. Square the edge upright assembly to the table and mark mounting hole location. Drill .344 dia. holes thru table top and secure in position with screws provided.
CAUTIONTo avoid damage to the wiring harness,
keep harness clear of material path.
WARNINGImproper loading of piece goods roll can result in personal injury and property damage. Improper unwinding direction can cause a pinch point in material and can eject piece goods roll from Power Tilt Cradle.
WARNINGKeep hands and loose objects away from Feed
Roller and Drive Belts.
OPERATION
NOTE: Refer to the control box familiarization on page 6 before reading this section.
Opening The CradleCheck opening path for obstructions. If the opening path is clear. Pull Main Power button on. Press the Load Control Switch to the Load position. Press and hold the Open/Close switch to the open position. Release when cradle is open. To close the cradle, press and hold the Open/Close switch to the close position. Release when cradle is closed. Press the Load Control Switch to the Edge position to begin operation.
Loading the CradlePlace the piece goods roll into the cradle. Move Alignment Bars against the ends of the piece goods roll and secure in position. Return cradle to operating position. Switch the load control switch to the edge position to begin operation.
NOTE: Refer to the control box familiarization on page 6 before reading this section.
CAUTIONMaximum weight of piece goods roll is 500 lbs.(227 kg)
and extreme caution should be used when placing piece goods roll into cradle.
ThreadingTurn Power Tilt Cradle on. Set controls to manual mode. Manually feed material up over the Roller Tube Assembly. Feed cloth under Dancer Bar and up over rollstand tube on edge upright assembly. See illustration on page 5. Thread fabric onto the Track & Chute Assembly of your Blue Jay End Cutter. Switch Power Cradle to Automatic mode and machine is ready for operation.

THREADING DIAGRAMOPERATING ADJUSTMENTS
Dancer Bar AdjustmentTo set spring for material stiffness; loosen screw on shaft collar and turn collar to adjust tension on spring and retighten setscrew.Non-operator side- Adjust for lightweight, sheer material (ref. light cotton). Experimentation will yield best operational adjustment.Operator side- Adjust for heavier weight material (ref. vinyl). Experimentation will yield best operational adjustment.
Edge Control Sensitivity AdjustmentFactory set to be suitable for most fabrics. NOT affected by cutting room lighting. If adjustment is required the sensor must be removed for sensitivity adjustment. Each sensor has a countersunk adjusting screw on the bottom surface. Turn screw CLOCKWISE to INCREASE sensitivity, COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to DECREASE sensitivity. Use care not to damage lens of scanner. When relocating sensor on support, scanner lenses must be aimed perpen-dicular to refl ector for edge control to operate properly. Switch edge control to automatic and test for proper functioning.
Automatic Speed AdjustmentNot required. The Power Tilt Cradle automatically adjusts cradle speed during operation.
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
Daily:-Blow off entire machine and edge control probe.
Weekly:-Check for any unusual wear and determine why.
Bi-Monthly:-Check chain, tighten and lubricate.-Check entire machine for loose nuts and bolts.

Main Drive Controls:
1. Main Power- Activates power to all circuits. Pull-on, Push off.2. Indicator Light- Indicates when Main Power (1) is activated.3. Auto/Manual- Sets Auto/Manual feed mode. Auto- Cradle feed operated by Dancer Bar. Manual- Cradle feed operated by Forward/Reverse switch.4. Feed Direction- Sets feed belt direction as indicated.5. Limited Warranty. Eastman warrants to the buyer that the equipment shall be free from defects in ma-terials or workmanship for a period of 180 days commencing on the date of invoice. Any goods or parts claimed by the buyer to be defective must be returned to Eastman, freight charges prepaid, within the 180 day warranty period. If Eastman determines that the goods or parts are defective in materials or workmanship, Eastman’s sole obligation under this warranty shall be, at Eastman’s sole option, to repair or replace the defective goods or parts or to provide the buyer a credit equal to the portion of the pur-chase price allocable to the defective goods or parts. This warranty shall not apply if defects are caused by product misuse or neglect, if the machine has been altered or modified by the buyer, or if other than genuine Eastman belts, emery wheels, knives or parts are used in the machine. THIS WARRANTY IS THE ONLY WARRANTY APPLICABLE TO THIS PURCHASE. SELLER DISCLAIMS ALL OTHER WAR-RANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
Limitation of Liability. Eastman’s liability to the buyer, and the buyer’s remedies from Eastman, whether in contract, negligence, tort, under any warranty or otherwise, shall be limited to the remedies provided in the foregoing Limited Warranty. In no event shall Eastman have any responsibility or liability to the buyer for (a) any special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including, but not limited to, loss of use, revenue, or profit, even if Eastman has been advised of the possibility of such damages, or (b) any claim against the buyer by any third party. The price stated for the product sold is a consideration for limiting Eastman’s liability.
