For hundreds of years, families from all over the world have embarked on a similar journey after enrolling their children into St Andrews University.

A truly rich and rewarding experience has got even better with time. For no longer do parents have to scour the web searching for places to stay when visiting their offspring. One place and one place alone stands head and shoulders above the rest and can have a profound effect on the next four years for both students and parents alike.

Allow me to introduce you to Pittormie Castle, home of The Eden Residence

Club. Let’s face it, at the top end, the town of St Andrews has for many years had limited quality with regards to places to stay for any length of time.

The Old Course Hotel is a charmless conversion of the old railway sheds which lacks the environment to spend quality time together. OK if you want a room and a bar if you’re on a golfing pilgrimage, or in town for a convention. But not somewhere for the family. The Fairmont is miles out of town and feels like an airport hotel – at least it’s like walking to your gate every time you go to your room.

TOM LAWRENCE, CHAIRMAN OF THE EDEN CLUB

“As hundreds of parents before you will attest, joining was the best decision they ever made and partly why St Andrews

will remain in their hearts forever”

Pittormie Castle was designed to take care of families when visiting St Andrews. It is the only 5-star property in town and the most luxurious estate in Scotland. On top of the variety of bars, lounges and restaurants which are all catered for by the Michelin star kitchen, the club has 8 suites inside the Castle, plus 20, two, three and four-bedroom residences for members to stay. The pool, spa, short-game centre and tennis courts are complemented by falconry, bike riding, archery, salmon fishing, trout fishing, shooting and lots of other activities, which make every visit an awesome indulgence for both parents and students alike.

Whether its visits for birthdays, special occasions, half terms and of course graduation, many will be the time when your children will actually want to come and spend time with you at Pittormie to enjoy such wonderful times together. You’ll get to meet their peers, boyfriends or girlfriends etc. naturally, as they too will want to come

out and visit, rather than you try to carve out some valuable time with your kids in a pub in town.

The secret to enhancing the whole University experience is not being reactive, competing for rooms with 8,500 parents at the same time, while getting the minimum you can from the next four years. But being pro-active and committing to making the St Andrews experience truly special. If either parent has to visit St Andrews on their own, you’ll feel safe and secure. Pittormie is the missing piece in the jigsaw that helps elevate the University experience on to a par with Cambridge and Oxford.

As hundreds of parents before you will attest, joining was the best decision they ever made and partly why St Andrews will remain in their hearts for ever. For more information visit The Eden Residence Club website at www.theedenresidenceclub.com and complete the request information form.
