The Enablis Foundation was created in 2006 to raise funds for Enablis’ operations. Its mission is to engage donors and support Enablis in its commitment to give visionary entre-preneurs the opportunity to grow their businesses, reach their full potential and eventually create jobs in their communities and beyond.

One of the Enablis Foundation’s main responsibilities is to manage and run the International Mentoring Program: a unique opportunity for business people to have a direct impact on Enablis entrepreneurs’ success.

In order to reach out to a wide variety of donors, the Enablis Foundation has also developed custom giving programs.

The International Mentoring Program focuses on matching mentors from around the world with Enablis entrepreneurs.

We believe that it is one of the most valuable programs we off er to stimulate our members’ entrepreneurial skills. There is clearly no one better suited to counsel aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs than business leaders who face similar chal-lenges every day. It’s a wonderful way for mentees to learn from hands-on experience and to be challenged by peers.

The International Mentoring Program involves: 1. Men-tors who are willing to share the skills they master; 2. Mentees who wish to benefi t from mentors’ experience; 3. Sponsors who agree to fi nancially support the program.

11 THE INTERNATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAM

They are experienced business men and women who embrace Enablis’ commitment to supporting SMEs entrepreneurs. They understand that Enablis members have the power to reduce poverty because they positively impact their communities by building their own companies.

An international mentor may come from any background. He or she is motivated to provide hands-on support to an Enablis entrepreneur. He or she is also enthusiastic about the amazing possibility to meet his or her mentee during a once-in-a-lifetime trip organized by the Enablis Foundation.

Time commitment: Once matched with an Enablis entrepre-neur, the mentor commits to making a 1-hour phone or Skype call per month over a period of two years.

Mentees are selected among the Enablis “Gold” member category, that includes our most established members who have been running their businesses for over 3 years. They work in a variety of sectors such as agri-business, fashion, ICT or tourism and commit to participate actively in the mentoring relationship. They also receive special training to get the most benefi ts from the program.

15 THE INTERNATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAM ENABLIS MENTEES

To support this unique program, the Enablis Foundation is looking for corporations, foundations or individuals to sponsor each mentor’s participation. Sponsors understand the benefi ts of the International Mentoring Program from both the mentors and mentees sides. While they support entrepreneurship in developing countries and create sustainable development, they also engage Canadian business men and women in participating directly to the success of an entrepreneur while developing their mentoring skills.

It is a “win-win” and generous way of helping Enablis and its members.

Financial commitment: The sponsor accepts to make a fi nancial contribution of $ 15,000 over two years per mento-ring pair to the Enablis Foundation.
