There are only a few fanciers around the world that breed this beautiful small pigeon. This presentation is showing the descriptive colors of Red, Yellow Agate, Yellow, Kite, Red Agate, DeRoy, Beard, Baldhead and the uncommon White; first the presentation of the colour figurine, then the real bird of the figurine colour. I bought all of the figurines at the same time. The Artist of these figurines is German Dieter Fliedner. To my knowledge, the German English Short Face Tumbler Club members convinced him to produce the figurines. Many ESFT fanciers around the world were emailed to look at his prototype to offer suggestions. All are numbered and have a very small marking. The white one has a date of 2005; it is of a separate mold and is smaller. The others come from two molds. Also they come with the band on opposite legs. Many of them were purchased and the information I received is the molds were used to their maximum, and no more were produced.See also my videos on You Tube:

FEEDERSText and photos: Aviculture Europe

For chickens, feeding is a social activity and they tend to feed as a group whenever possible. That is why you should supply enough feed and waterer space for all chicks to be able to eat or drink at the same time. So keep in mind, that when the chicks get older, you will need a bigger feeder or more feeders. Of course you can purchase feeders from the store, but you can also make your own, like Leo van Wetering did. His feeders are made out of PVC pipe & fittings. A piece of PVC-pipe has to be cut out as shown in the photos. Make sure the sharp edges are smoothed with sandpaper i.e., to provide damage to neck and breast feathers. Don’t glue the 2 ‘lids’ to the pipe, but fasten each of them to a piece of wood ( half circle). Now this feeder can be easily cleaned. In this way you make feeders that will exactly measure up to your wishes.

PERFORMING AND FLYING PIGEONS at the Fancy Pigeon Show of South-Netherlands SZN 2010

In the Pigeon Hobby, the Flying and Performing Pigeon Sport is getting more and more supporters. One of the organising Clubs of the SZN, Bois le Duc, recently started to offer the opportunity to also exhibit performing and flying pigeons. This has been a large success within the Club. These pigeons are judged differently from the Fancy Pigeons. Two judges, who themselves keep flying pigeons drew a list of criteria to judge this type of pigeons. These are: -Breed characteristics.-Skeleton.-Muscles. -Wings and Wing carriage. (appropriate to the Breed?)-Eyes. (Clear, Bright) -Feathering. -Overall Condition.

The SZN will give this a try. All pure bred performing and flying pigeon breeds can be entered but not crossbreeds. Colour and marking will not be judged. All known 'closed' Leg rings are allowed, provided that they cannot be taken off. The birds do not compete with the other pigeons but are individually graded, so there is a special prize winning scheme and also a reduced entry fee of € 3,50. The Pigeons will be judged by the two judges of Bois le Duc, who initiated this judging scheme for flying pigeons. All Pigeon Lovers are heartily invited to join in this new Experience in Pigeon Exhibiting and enter a few pigeons. Entry forms are available at www.szn.sierduif.nlor via e-mail [email protected]

We kindly ask your attention to the 9th Fancy Pigeons Show of the southern Netherlands.

For the fancier this show has much extra to offer: It is the first national exhibition pigeons this season where you can show your young animals. Again this year for the 3rd time an auction of some top pairs of pigeons in several breeds. A Book Sale, often with surprising titles. A special exhibition of the 70-years history of the Fancy pigeons Club The South. Moreover, the show entry is free and free parking at the hall.

The location of this show in Loon op Zand is also very suitable for a domestic trip. A few miles away in a beautiful piece of nature are the Loon and Drunen dunes and a stone's throw away the famous fairytale park 'De Efteling'.

As you see, the SZN is an excellent opportunity for the pigeons fanciers to combine their hobby with a nice family activity.

We will be pleased to be your host from 5 to 7 November 2010 and will do everything to make your day.
