Letter to Montcalm County resident

• The construction of wood debris dams is an unauthorised activity,

• This is a violation since the required permit was not requested,

• The dams failed during recently causing flooding,

• Dams of this nature are hazardous and are not permitted.

• This Department orders you to cease and desist such activities, and

• Make good any damage or elseenforcement action will be taken.

Resident’s response...

• A couple of beavers are constructing and maintaining two wood debris dams across the outlet stream from my pond.

• I did not pay for, authorise or supervise their DAM project and challenge your Department to emulate their DAM project anytime.

• No way you could match their DAM skills, their Dam resourcefulness, their DAM ingenuity, their DAM persistence, their DAM determination and their DAM work ethic.

• The dams failing is a natural occurrence that the Department is required to protect.

• So if you want the stream restored toa DAM free-flow condition contact the DAM builders yourself.
