Epiphany can be understood as an extension of the Na-tivity of the Lord that we celebrate on December 25. Quinceañera Classes If your daughter plans to celebrate a Mass of Thanksgiving this year, please call or

MASS FOR LIFE Join Bishop Joseph J. Tyson in celebrating the dignity of human life from conception through natural death at the annual Mass for Life, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Sunday, January 19, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yakima. The Mass marks the 47th anni-versary of Roe vs. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion, which was decided on January 22, 1973. A light lunch and brief program in the Fa-ther Murtagh Gathering Hall will follow the Mass. All are

welcome to attend.

An Introduction to Theology Wednesday, Jan 15th at St. Rose School at 6:30 pm

Gene Butterly will be giving 8 lectures total, about 30 minutes a piece for the next 8 weeks. Anyone who is interested in attending is welcome.

IN LOVING MEMORY As a parish we grieve the loss of our dear friend, Carol Millard. We pray for her family and friends during this difficult time and remember the Hope we have in Christ Jesus. The funeral Mass will take

place this Friday, January 10th at 2 pm in the Church with a graveside service immediately following. There will also be a reception in the Parish Center. Please join the family to pray the

Rosary on Thursday, the 9th at 7 pm in the Church.

LA EPIFANÍA DEL SEÑOR 5 DE ENERO DE 2020

LUZ DEL MUNDO

Se puede entender la Epifaní a como una extensio n de la Natividad del Sen or que celebramos el 25 de diciembre. En la Navidad celebramos la venida de Jesu s como el rey y Me-sí as tan esperado por el pueblo judí o, y en la Epifaní a cele-bramos la revelacio n de Jesu s como el Salvador y la Luz de las naciones; es decir, de judí os, gentiles y de todos los pue-

blos. La estrella brilla con tanto fulgor que atrae a los magos que vienen de paí ses distantes para adorar a Jesu s. No son ju-dí os, y sin embargo se ven atraí -dos al que es la Luz del Mundo. La carta a los efesios revela que la Luz del Mundo era tanto para gentiles como para judí os, pues Cristo reu ne a todos los pueblos en la luz de su amor. La lectura de Isaí as tambie n describe a di-versos pueblos que vienen, pero

esta vez les atrae la luz que emana del pueblo de Dios.
