ST. ANTHONY PROGRAMS & DE PAUL SCHOOL
The St. Anthony School Programs and the De Paul School for Hearing and Speech are two diocesan programs for children with special needs. The St . Anthony Program “mainstreams” children with Down Syndrome, autism, or cognitive l e a r n i n g c h a l l e n g e s — a n extraordinary learning experience for the client children and also for their peers, who learn from them about caring and overcoming challenges. Parishioner Jonathan Glance serves on the board.
The De Paul School for Hearing and Speech teaches speaking-listening skills (no sign language) to deaf or hearing-impaired children, enabling them to go to neighborhood schools with their peers of typical hearing ability. Parishioner Carol Riley has served on the St. Anthony board for many years.
Next week, we take up a second collection for these two causes. Your gifts also directly benefit SEAS Parish, because they are counted 100% toward our annual Parish Share assessment from the Diocese. Please make this collection your charitable priority for the month!
I am pleased to report that our three-month average attendance October through December didn't fall this year:
2012: 1,127 2013: 1,067 2014: 966 2015: 945 2016: 959
Our parish’s annual men’s retreat typically takes place on a weekend in January at St. Paul Monastery, South Side. It includes spiritual exhortations Friday evening through Sunday morning—bed and five meals included. Contact the parish office for more information or speak to Gerry Skvarca.

Walk Like A Camel…Shine Like A Star
So, who is the REAL hero of today’s Mass readings? Or who do you want to model your evangelization efforts
after?
The caravans of camels and dromedaries, bearing gold and frankincense, and proclaiming the praises of the
Lord?
The kings of Tarshish and the Isles and Arabia and Seba, paying him homage, the same ones who departed
‘by another way’?
The star that stopped over the place where the child was?
No matter which you choose, you’re heading in the right direction if you continue to recognize and share the glory
of our newborn King!
Lord, every nation on earth will adore you!
