2010—APRIL 1 THE FAIRVIEWAN
S unrise services ,
crowded churches,
radiant songs of praise,
inspired messages—this is
Easter Sunday morning
throughout Christendom.
Every year it is the
same. As we ponder it,
the questions rise— “Why
this continuing interest?”
“Why the un-diminishing
crowds year after year at
Easter time.” Someone
explained it as the
crowds’ desire to display
their lovely Easter gar-
ments. Others come out
of idle curiosity to see the
sights. Still others come
out of force of habit, to
follow the crowd and to
do the popular thing.
Of course, I realize that
there is some truth in all
of these. But this is not
the whole truth. Some-
how I cannot escape feel-
ing that there is some-
thing deeper than this.
Somehow my soul senses
a greater concern than
this. A haunting, yearn-
ing quest for an answer to
the age-old question: “If
a man die shall he live
again.” Somehow there
haunts the soul of man
the conviction that God
has created us for eter-
nity. Our souls are not
destined for oblivion.
Life goes on.
Life goes on. Is not this
the message of Easter? Is
not this the assurance of
the Christian faith? Eter-
nal life belongs to the
Christian. His is life that
shall never end. This the
firm declaration of the
Gospel “He that believeth
on the Son has everlasting
life.” This was the de-
clared purpose behind
God’s gift of His Son.
Jesus so testified of Him-
self “Whosoever drinketh
of the water that I shall
give him shall never be in
thirst: but the water that I
shall give him shall be in
him a well of water spring-
ing up into everlasting
life.” “Yet a little while
and the world seeth me no
more; but ye shall see me:
because I live, ye shall live
also.”
So the Christian is firm
in the belief that for him
life goes on.
Life goes on. The
Christian life is not a re-
ligion of death, it is a re-
ligion of life. It did not
end on a cross or in a
grave. I know there was
a cross planted on the hill
and an occupied tomb
sealed on the hillside.
But the tomb is empty
now and that cross has
become a symbol of vic-
tory. For Christ is risen.
The darkness is gone.
Life goes on!

WITH JESUS CHRIST?
If you believe in your heart that Jesus Is Lord, the Christ,
the Savior, the Son of the Living God, and you are willing to
turn from sin to God, then receive Jesus Christ now by faith
and pray this prayer:
Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Forgive me of all my sins, come into my heart
and save me. I do now confess you as my risen Lord.
Thank you Lord Jesus for saving me. AMEN

But He saves the needy from the sword, From the mouth of the mighty, and from

2010—APRIL 3 THE FAIRVIEWAN
Pastor & Sister Reed’s
47th
Appreciation Service
Fairview’s beloved Shep-
herd, Pastor John, and Sis-
ter Pat Reed, were honored
during the week of March
21 through 28 for 47 years
of faithful service of feed-
ing the Fairview Flock.
The Fairview Family and
many other visiting Church
Families were there in large
numbers to join in the cele-
bration. The presence of so
many of the faithful was
testament to the quality of
service both have given
down through the years. The attendance this year was larger
than it had been during the past years, and that in itself dis-
played the love that the Fairview sheep and others have for
Fairview’s beloved first family.
The celebration began on Sunday Morning, March 21, with
the annual appearance of Rev. Reggie Payne – Son in the
Ministry to Pastor Reed and Pastor of the Full Gospel Baptist
Church, Los Angeles. Rev. Payne’s sermon was short, scin-
tillating, and to the point as he delivered a beautiful message
taken from the Old Testament book of I Chronicles 4:9-10.
This passage of scripture deals with a noted Biblical figure in
the person of Ja’-bez.
In reading the referenced scripture, we see that Ja’-bez was
honorably born, but Pastor Payne dug deeply into the mean-
ing of being honorably born and showed that it could be a
disadvantage to be born that way but did not disqualify him
from receiving the blessings of the Lord. Thus the title of
the message, ―Ja’-bez: Disadvantaged, But Not Disquali-
fied.‖ Just look into verse 10 and you can see that Ja’-bez,
himself, recognized the disadvantages that he faced, but like
young King Solomon, King of Israel, Ja’-bez prayed to the
God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to grant him the necessi-
ties to overcome all the disadvantages that he faced and
GOD ANSWERED THE PRAYER OF JA’-BEZ just as he
answered King Solomon by granting much more than the
original request. Pastor Payne pointed out that God can and
will do the same for you and I if we only ask Him in sincer-
ity and truth to do those things which we cannot do for our-
selves.
Young Derek Nettles, Children’s Church Pastor at Fairview,
gave a ringing declaration in his words of appreciation to
Pastor & Sister Reed and to the enhanced meaning that they
have given to his life through their love displayed toward
him and others.
We move to the Friday night portion of the celebration and
that evening, another of Pastor’s Sons in the Ministry was
the featured speaker. That person was Rev. E. Tyson
Jennings, Proud Pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Pastor Jennings moved all of us on up a little higher with a
profound message entitled, ―The Challenge of Pastoring in
Times Like These.‖ He used as his text, Matthew 10:16-28.
Jesus warned his disciples that there would be wolves among
the sheep every where they went. The main thrust of his
message was that wolves would be in the government, in the
family, and in the church. He told them that they must be
wise as serpents, for when serpents sense danger, they
quickly remove themselves from that danger. He also told
the disciples that they must be innocent of all wrongdoing
when spreading the word. He emphasized the fact that they
would be hated of all men, but those that endured to the end
would be saved.
Notable that night was the enthusiastic welcome and ac-
knowledgement of guests, given to the large gathering by
Sister Janice Cook and in the words of appreciation given by
Sister Deborah Sancho. Sister Sancho said that she could
just imagine Jesus asking Pastor John at the outset of his
calling ―if he loved Jesus‖ and she could hear Pastor John
answering as the Apostle Peter answered, ―Lord, you know
that I love you.‖ Jesus told Pastor John to ―feed His sheep‖
and Pastor John has faithfully done that for the past 47 years.
Sunday Morning, the final day of the celebration was upon
us and from Chandler, Oklahoma, and the Central Baptist
Church, and Muskogee, Oklahoma, the Loving Mt. Calvary
Baptist Church, Pastors James E. Reed, Sr. and Rev. Gary
Hall brought their congregations to celebrate with us.
Pastor Reed, Sr. is the younger brother of Pastor Reed, Jr.,
and Rev. Gary Hall is the successor to the legendary Rev.
Dr. John A. Reed, Sr., long-time Pastor of Loving Mt. Cal-
vary. Pastor James Reed spoke on ―What has Happened to
Love?‖, using as his text Matthew 5:45-47. He emphasized
that no one individual is loved by everyone. Jesus Christ had
his distracters and each of us that follow Him certainly has
our distracters. Strangely enough, many of them are our
fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Both Pastors brought
their choirs along with them and each choir did their part in
preparing the exceptionally large congregation for the Spo-
ken Word.
At the grand finale on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM, the fea-
tured guest was the St. John Missionary Baptist Church of
Oklahoma City, pastored by Rev. Dr. Major Lewis Jemison.
They were joined by nine other guest churches. Musically,
First Baptist Church of Purcell, Pastor Ricky McNeal, Eman-
nuel Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Chester West, and
Greater Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church, pastored by Dr.
Lester Cezar, rendered some absolutely beautiful musical
selections, which again added to the worshipful atmosphere.

At the grand finale on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 PM, the featured
guest was the St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Oklahoma
City, pastored by Rev. Dr. Major Lewis Jemison. They were
joined by nine other guest churches. Musically, First Baptist
Church of Purcell, Pastor Ricky McNeal, Emmanuel Baptist
Church, pastored by Rev. Chester West, and Greater Antioch Full
Gospel Baptist Church, pastored by Dr. Lester Cezar, rendered
some absolutely beautiful musical selections, which again added
to the worshipful atmosphere.
Then the large and beautifully prepared Senior Choir of St. John
Baptist took the choir stand and delighted the huge congregation
with two additional musical numbers, prior to Dr. Jemison deliv-
ering the sermon for the afternoon.
Dr. Jemison, as usual, saluted Dr. Reed and the family with a
warmness reserved for ―true friends.‖ That warmness is built on
mutual respect and trust for the position that Pastor Reed occupies
and for the way that he and his family have carried themselves
down throughout the years. Pastor Jemison launched into his
message and what a message. Using Matthew 25:14, he told us
in his message ―How to Handle The Lord’s Business.‖ I shall
only say that the answer to that question, which was the title of his
message, is found in verses 15 through 30 and suggest that you
open your Bibles and see what thus sayeth the Lord about it.
The end of the celebration drew near, but our Venerable Pastor, as
he is wont to do, surprised his long-time First Lady and his Fair-
view Family with something that neither of them had witnessed
before. Joined by musically talented Velina Davenport and with
instrumental support from Musician Anttwain Cox, Pastor sere-
naded the love of his life with ―WIND BENEATH MY WINGS.‖
Sister Davenport got him started, but once she put the wheels in
motion, Pastor took over from there and got on a roll. He had
Sister Pat wiping tears of joy from her cheeks and the audience
spellbound with his salute and tribute to one whom, through his
own remarks, HE COULD NOT HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR
WITHOUT HER.
He gave her a big ―buss‖ at the conclusion of the musical tribute
and Sister Pat, after regaining her composure, was serene and
composed in her remarks and gave equal tribute to THE LOVE
OF HER LIFE and thanked God for putting Pastor John there as
her companion. This was their 47th Pastoral Anniversary, but
come June 2010, they will have been betrothed 49 years, if it’s the
will of the Lord.
Sister Pat was resplendent in her dress, as she always is, and Pas-
tor was a proud husband, father, and grandfather as he paid tribute
to all of his family. Once again he reminded the Fairview Family
that they have a Pastor until God sees fit to call him to refresh-
ment from labor, for he had no intentions of going elsewhere.
Pastor & Sister Pat, Shai and Shree, Tony & Derrick, Tonia, Bri,
and DJ, Fairview adores you and we thank you from the bottom of
our hearts for your dedication. We give thanks to God for placing
you as First Family of the Fairview flock and our prayer is that
God continues to make his face shine upon you for many years to
come. Keep on serving the Lord with gladness. A crown of life
awaits you at the end. C. Meldon Hardrick, Staff Reporter

Crucifixion was the worst method of
punishment when Jesus walked the
Earth. Unlike others condemned to
death on the cross, Jesus was nailed to
the cross by his wrists and feet with nails
6 to 8 inches long. The nails in his wrists
ripped the tendons so that his arms could not be
used. With both of His feet nailed together, He was
forced to support himself on the single nail, so He
had to alternate between arching His back and
then using His legs to continue to breathe. He had
already endured being beaten so severely that it
tore His flesh and His beard was ripped from His
face while He walked for 2 kilometers carrying His
cross. Throngs of people threw rocks
at Him and spat in His face. He
hung there 3 hours and died for
YOU, but He rose from the dead and

Make-A-Will Sunday and Workshop
80 to 90 percent of African Americans do not take the simple
steps to protect their wealth by making a will. In an effort to
counter this unfortunate statistic, Fairview Missionary Baptist
Church in conjunction with the Southwestern Urban Foundation,
will sponsor a “Make A Will Emphasis Sunday” on April 18, 2010
during the regular morning service which will be followed by a
“Make A Will Workshop” which will be held on Saturday, April
24, 2010, at 9:00am at the Langston University Oklahoma City
Campus which is located at 4205 N. Lincoln Boulevard. The work-
shop will feature free legal consultation and service by the Legal
Aid Society, the Association of Black Lawyers, and attorneys from
the University of Oklahoma College of Law and the Oklahoma
City University School of Law. Since there will be a limited num-
ber of clients who will be serviced, please pick up a question-
naire that must be completed and brought to the workshop. The
questionnaire will be available of “Make A Will Emphasis Sun-
day” on April 18 at Fairview.

The adult all nighter was a blast!!! We had over 30 young
adults attend the event with lots of food, fun and fellow-
ship. Rev. Derek Nettles blessed us with an amazing ser-
mon during which we had one W.O.W. participant come
down for Christian experience. We had a praise dance by
the Jesus Puppet and several games that got the young
adults up and moving! What an awesome way to spend a
Friday night, stay out of trouble, fellowship with your fel-
low Christian peers, and meet new friends! I hope this be-
comes an annual tradition for W.O.W.
The Young Adults lead a 'Town Hall' meeting where they
intensely discussed the issue of 'Role Models', should peo-
ple out front leading (in the spiritual world and in secular
world) be stripped of there honors, awards, when they
mess up, etc. Why or Why not? Also, the young men dis-
cussed what they value in young women and the young
women shared what they value in young men. Night at the
Apollo' talent show was unforgettable. A few had to visit
the 'Men's Party Pooper Area' and 'Women's Party Pooper
Area' before the night was over, but most hung all night,
watching movies, snacking, playing video and Wii games
and sharing and discussing issues faced by young adults,
until the wee wee hours of the morning. Everybody
headed home about 6 AM.

Communications Conference
Communicating the
Gospel
to the Uttermost!!
Fairview Baptist Church held its 3rd Annual Com-munication Conference March 12 & March 13th.
The Conference was titled In it to Win In 2010;
Communicating the Gospel to the Utmost.
Mealeatha Patterson, Director of Communications, Public Relations and editor of the Fairviewan opened up the conference in the main sanctuary, followed up with a prayer from Rev J.A. Reed, Jr.
Rev. Cleo McGlory, Fairview’s Minister of Evangel-ism opened the session on Friday night concerning
our church’s theme, Winning Souls for Christ. Saving souls is a serious matter. The Lord is on his way back. (“He that shall come will come”.) We need to be about the Lord’s business and we need to be careful with our time, because the Lord isn’t go-
ing to give us any more time!” “What does it profit
a man if he gains the whole world and loses his
soul?”
You may be a servant with many talents, but wit-nessing to someone needs to be one of your duties.
We just can’t get by with doing “church work” if we are not doing the “work of the church!”
People die everyday and the Lord puts people in our path so that we can witness to them. We can’t sit on our Christianity when people are going to Hell. Faith comes by hearing and the Gospel has to be proclaimed and communicated to the lost while we have the chance.
The keynote speaker of the Friday night session was Dr. Lee Cooper, Jr. Pastor Prospect Baptist Church.
Dr. Cooper’s mes-
sage was, Excel-
lence in the King-
dom of God.
We need to be moti-vated to operate in excellence. When we come to church, we think we can just
get by. But we can’t. When excellence is your goal,
good enough is not good enough!
Dr. Cooper talked about being SAVED, SANCTI-
FIED AND SEALED, a phrase that he learned
from his Uncle Tipton. Saved: Being born again.
Sanctified: Having God change and rearrange your
life. Sealed: Covered by the Holy Spirit. This shows
that you belong to God.
Dr. Copper also left the audience with these words: Live for the future and not in the past. Challenge yourself to do things a better way. Your method should never change but your methodology needs to change! Be motivated to reflect on something bigger then yourself. Dr. Cooper quoted E.K. Bailey, “If
you are your only cause, then you have a mighty little cause.”
The Friday night session concluded with a panel that included Rev. Arthur Crawford, Fairview Asso-ciate Pastor, Rev Michael Cooper, Producer, Direc-tor, and Announcer, (the son of long time member Mrs. Lillian Williams), Levi McCullough, Church Photographer/Musician and Joey E. Parker. Jamar Patterson was the moderator for the panel discus-sion.
-SATURDAY- The conference continued bright and early Saturday
morning in the Fellowship Hall with a continental breakfast and prayer. There were eight classes for the attendees:

nications Ministry, (Maeleatha Patterson, pre-senter),

Saturday’s keynote speaker was Fairview’s very
own, Rev. J.A. Reed, Jr. His message was
Burning the Candle at
Both Ends. Rev. Reed explained how easy it is to burn the candle at both ends and not even realize this is happening. So what do you do when this happens? Pastor
said he takes his ad-vice from “the book”
and applies it to his own life.
Pastor Reed’s message came from the Mark 2:7. But
Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the
sea. The reason Jesus withdrew himself was be-
cause he was dealing with the Pharisees, who were a bankrupt people. They were also conspiring to get rid of him.
Jesus, in the midst of serving God, was battling op-position. Jesus had a rhythm and balance of life. Work and rest; worship and play. At this point, he was tired, weary and he was stressed out, so Jesus
withdrew.
We also learn this lesson in our own lives. Too much work or even worship can stress you out. There needs to be a balance in your life. Without rest, Jesus would both burn out and accomplish very little. So, he withdrew himself. Some of us don’t know how to rest. Jesus set the example!
Once you are restored, you can come back and be better. We as a church need to learn how to handle stress. We have to understand we are not super hu-man: there are no super human Christians!
Burned out Christians are tired and numb. Stressed out Christians are not fun. Health surveys state that two-thirds of doctor’s visits are stress related. Our lifestyles are making us stress out. Stress is the wear and tear of life. Stress shows up in our behavior by overeating, smoking, temper tantrums, taking pre-scription and illegal drugs and making sloppy deci-sions. Then, you end up with a sense of hopeless-ness. All of this affects your health and shows up as heart attacks, diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure
and the high percentage of suicides in our commu-nity. Stress-free living is impossible. So we need to learn to deal with our stress. Stress management is impor-tant for every individual. The best formula is doing it Jesus’ way. You can’t be effective in your ministry if you can’t even handle your personal life. Everyone on earth has the same 24 hours. It’s not that you need more time, but rather you need to make better use of the time you have. Stress can rob you of your joy. Jesus went through all of this stress and He is our supreme example.
When Jesus was stressed out he left the scene. The land represented work, and the sea represented rest.
Jesus went to the sea for rest. We all need to find
Our Sea.
Laree Reidenbaugh, Human Relations Coordinator for OKDHS, was the final presenter of the day. This motivational session explored the attributes
and behaviors that relate to becoming successful in all relationships, both personal and professional.
This was a great conference and all the attendees left armed with ways to promote their ministries.
The Communication and PR ministry will continue to bring you new formats to assist you in helping you promote and uplift your ministries and commu-nicate to win the campaign for Christ.

2010—APRIL 9 THE FAIRVIEWAN
On January 16th, 2010 the Women's Ministry of Fairview joined with the other women of the East Zion District in the annual Prayer Retreat and Con-ference. The theme of this year's conference was "Now Faith Is". taken from, Hebrews chapter 12. The conference was held at the Langston Uni-versity-OKC campus. Four different classes were offered: (1) A Time for Balance: Family, Work, and Minis-try, facilitated by Sister Jacqeline Horton of Follow-ers of Christ Baptist Church. (2) A Time for Praise for Who God is, facilitated by Sister Mauree Stanfield, Greater Fellowship Baptist Church. (3) A time to Continue: It Ain't Over Until God Says So, facilitated by Sister Odette Scobey of North-east Missionary Baptist Church. (4) A Time for Prayer, facilitated by Sister Elizabeth Dungan.
Session III - "A Time to Continue: It Ain't over Until God Says So" - Sister Scoby used her life as an example of continued service. She showed how her retirement as a teacher was continued in service to God. She stated we must use the rest of our lives in service until God says time is out. She said that every woman should die empty. She should give until she is given out. When we teach we touch lives of people we have never met before. We must be careful how we live before them. When God gives us a task to do He equips us for it and we must continue the work until it is finished. (II Timothy 4:5). He gives us spiritual gifts to accom-plish what He has for us to do. These spiritual gifts are given to every believer not to unbelievers. Everyone is given some talents. Nonbelievers use their talents for the world. Believers use their spiritual gifts for God's Kingdom work. I must work the work of Him who sent me while it is day; for when the night comes no man can work. It ain't over until God says so.
Session IV - "A Time for Prayer - Sister Dugan started by stating the importance of coming into the presence of God. She said that in order for us to be affective prayer warriors we must be in agreement with the third person of God, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit lines us up with God's way of thinking. Our thoughts can defeat
our lining up with God's thoughts. She then discussed strong holds of the mind. If we have a mindset of hope-lessness we can cause other believers to have the same sense of hopelessness. This creates a sense that things cannot be changed. To overcome this feel-ing we must know we are loved by God uncondition-ally. Our prayer life won’t be what it should be until we receive the love of God. Then comes forgive-ness. Until we can receive forgiveness we will not be what we should be in Christ. In this case we will not have a strong prayer life. Some of the other strong-holds discussed were: fear, intimidation, generational strong holds, traditional strongholds, and slave mental-ity. A strong prayer life and faith that God will deliver from all entrapments is the only way we can overcome these strongholds. We must be assured of God's un-conditional love. We cannot do the work of God unless we are in the presence of God. We must have a hun-ger and thirst to be in God's Presence.

Young Adult Session Submitted by Denise Patterson
The Young adult break-out session consisted of three classes:
"A Time for Balance: Family, Work and Ministry" .
Sister Laura Brothers, St Jude Baptist Church
"A Time for Praise for Who God Is", Sister Dana
Brothers, Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church
"A Time for Financial Matters", Sister Della Dean,
SBDC Langston University.
A Time for Balance : Family, Work, and Ministry - Sister Laura discussed how God should be an asset and not a liability and that self, family, job, church, bills, etc. should be liabilities and not assets. The next topic was presented by Sister Chrystal Heard, she stated prayer is two parts: your part in the doing and God's part of granting the ability. She provided the following website for helping with prayer: www.ChristianWord.com.
The final topic was presented by a representative from Langston University (OSBDC) Oklahoma Small Busi-ness Development Center. Sister Dean discussed "A Time for Financial Matters". This included life skills on

2010—APRIL 14 THE FAIRVIEWAN
(Continued from Page 9—Women’s Prayer Re-treat financial success such as: paying tithes, money management, and free credit reports. The ses-sion was concluded with a prayer by Sister La-trina Rich, EZD Young Adult President.
After the delicious luncheon was enjoyed by everyone, the second part of the conference was opened by Mistresses of Ceremony, Sis-ters Carzetta Threats and Tara Wooten. Sister Maxine Thurman gave the opening prayer. The
program consisted of: A selec-tion by Sister Latrina Rich, and a selection by Unified Spirit. It was now time for one of the highlights of the day, the fash-ion show. The ladies came forth dressed in their very best
Sunday-Go-To-Meeting attire. Everyone was dazzled by their splendor. The second highlight of the day was our dynamic guest speaker, Sis-ter Elizabeth Dungan. Sister Rhonda Mitchell, EZD first vice president presented our guest speaker.
Sister Dungan gave a prophetic message 333, taken from Isaiah 33:3. Sister Dungan told the ladies, "You are women of unmerited favor. We have a shield of favor.” She stated that 555 stands for grace, unmerited favor. 555 also means empowerment. We are to elevate our walk with the Lord. We have become partakers of His divine nature. We must get this into our spirit. She stated that God's kingdom can be displayed through our spirits. She said that the number 5 represents a higher standard. We are redeemed, we are justified and we are empow-ered to move from glory to glory. God's children must be prepared to be the voice of change and remember that God supplies “all our need ac-cording to His riches in glory.” She then told us to not let strongholds hold us back. She then talked about the Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. THE GOOD: The family who is always loving, who tells you the truth even when you are wrong. THE BAD: You don't see them until they want something from you. They are never there when you need them. THE UGLY: They add to your problems. They are super criti-cal. Ugly won’t let you get up, it has no feelings and offers no encouraging words. Ugly never stops coming, but God is there through the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The conference ended with prayer and remarks from President Olivette Brothers
FBC Music Ministry Workshop 2010 February 10-13, 2010
6:30pm nightly
THEME: “The Heart of Music Ministry - In it to win - In
2010”
SCRIPTURES: Psalm 107:2; Psalm 150; Matthew 28:19-20
Our Guest Clinicians were
Sis. Norma Noble and Bro.
Dennis Scott What a dy-
namic workshop we had!!!!
We thank our Pastor for hav-
ing a vision for the people.
Our Objective
Our Minister of Music, Sis Shree Walter, started the workshop
by asking us this question: Does your conduct come in line with
God? She reminded us that we should realize that
worship is not something we do just on Sunday, but
it’s a lifestyle change that is outwardly expressed
everyday. Through this ongoing expression, God
will be glorified, Saints will be edified, Sinners will
be mystified and Satan will be horrified.
The Conversion
We must confess with our mouth to the Lord
and believe with all our heart. When we repent, we are changing our
ways to be stewards for Christ. This is found in Acts 3:19. She en-
couraged us to present ourselves as Christ would in our, attitude, ap-
pearance, and timeliness.
Our Commitment
We must commit, count the costs, believe and keep our word
with honor. A person who is not committed to God will not be com-
mitted to ministry. Sis Norma Noble added that God’s Word is
equipping a changed people to change the world! We meditated
on Psalm 27 (A Prayer of Praise), focusing on verse 4, ―I ask only
one thing, LORD; Let me live in your house every day of my life, to
see how wonderful you are and to pray in your temple‖.
Norma also reminded us about the scripture Psalm 63:1-4;
―God, You’re my God! I can’t get enough of you‖. Remember, God
always keeps his promises to us. He will always equip us with what
we need, and he promises to never leave or forsake us. We must
remember to obey his commands.
Bro Dennis directed the choir with the power of God in his
spirit, and all the directors encouraged us as we gave our best. We
had some long and prosperous nights with the help of the most awe-
some Directors.
The four-day workshop culminated with the Musical on
Saturday night, giving us the opportunity to sing new praises to His
Holy Name. Thank God for what he prepares for us. Linette Burton, Reporter

2010—APRIL 16 THE FAIRVIEWAN
We greet you once again in the Matchless and Eternal Name
of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus, The Christ.
God keeps on blessing the Ministry in many ways. Our efforts
in recruiting men to become actively involved in the plans and
programs keeps on increasing. We are adding new members
to our Singing Churchmen and continue to seek others who
will become a part of the group. The effort to train our young
boys and men through the Royal Ambassador/Junior Laymen
programs is going well.
I want to address the next few comments to the parents and
guardians of our young boys and men. The best efforts of the
Senior Laymen to teach and train our future Senior Laymen
will utterly fail if we cannot get the cooperation of the parents
and guardians to see that the young men will be there to be the
recipients of the training that is offered.
We have heard many comments from some of our young men,
among them is that ―we do not want to become Jr. Laymen.‖
Young men, the Senior Laymen, through its Executive Com-
mittee Members, have no requirement for you to serve as Jr.
Laymen. We are foremost and primarily interested in you
being available to us to receive biblical training from the Holy
Bible. We recognize that only The Holy Spirit can change
your life and have you become all that the Holy Spirit would
have you become. But we believe just as fervently that the
Holy Spirit uses dedicated Sr. Laymen to facilitate the spiritual
growth that you must undergo to become all that The Holy
Spirit would have you become. We are commanded to plant
the seed, but it is God who will give the increase. Parents and
Guardians, please assist us by seeing that the young charges
that are under your care be in attendance at these much needed
training sessions. Indirectly, you will benefit for you will have
a young charge that will not present as many problems to you
as they do by leading a less Godly life. I have talked with
some of you individually about your sons and grandsons that
are not attending the training sessions and it is my intent to
talk to more of you.
Please get your sons & grandsons involved for there are many
activities, other than the Bible training that is incorporated in
the programs that we have for them. All of these activities are
intended to make better young citizens and to have them grow
into adulthood and become all that God would have them to
become. If you need to know more about the program agenda,
please contact Brothers Terry Peeler, Walter Ellison, James
Tobler, Vince Guydon, or Larry Epps. Each of these Brethren
are committed and dedicated to helping shape the lives of our
boys and young men.
The Ministry wishes to add its voice to the throngs of mem-
bers and well wishers to congratulate our beloved Pastor for
completing 47 years of dedicated service to the Fairview
Church Family, the Oklahoma City local area, the State of
Oklahoma, and the Nation. Pastor, you have our continued
support and our desire is that God will allow you to serve for
many additional years, laboring in the vineyard.
Once more we call upon each of you to become actively in-
volved in the activities of the Ministry. God wants you to get
off the bench and in the fray. As Jesus said in Matthew 9:37:
―The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.‖ As God
has promised, your service will be rewarded with untold bless-
ings.
PLEASE JOIN US AS WE PRAY FOR PRESIDENT
OBAMA. GOD PLACED HIM IN THAT HIGH OFFICE,
AND HE NEEDS OUR UNSWERVING PRAYERFUL SUP-
PORT.
Scripture for the Month: And God said,
let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
So God created man in his own image, in the im-
age of God created he him; male and female cre-
ated he them. Genesis 1:26a, 27.
