19 Now there was a rich man, dressed in purple and fine linen and lived all self-indulgence and splendidly days.20 there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, who lay full of sores at his gate;21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table; and the dogs came and licked his sores.22 And it happened that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom; and also died rich, and was buried.23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the water the tip of his finger and cool my tongue, for I am tormented in this flame.25 He said, however, Abraham Son, remember that you received your good things in your life, and likewise Lazarus evil things; and now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.26 And besides, there is a great gulf between us and you, so that those who would pass from hence to you can not; neither can they pass here.

INTRODUCTION
In today's lesson we will study the final fate of the wicked and saved in Jesus Christ. God's Word assures us that it will not be in vain our hope in Jesus Christ, but by faith we have already secured a glorious future at his side. For the wicked, unrepentant, is reserved suffering and eternal damnation for their deceptive choices led them to despise the salvation of God.

• 1. What is it?I - THE STATE INTERMEDIATE
10
It is the state between physical death and resurrection of both the saved and the wicked. The saved will have a different fate of the wicked:. "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves shall hear his voice they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation "(John 5.28,29).

The Word of God says that there is no purgatory and also there is the "soul sleep" nor reincarnation, as some believe. After death follows the divine judgment.
• 2. Sheol and Paradise.I - THE STATE INTERMEDIATE
12
Sheol is a Hebrew term that can mean grave or "place or state of the dead." In the New Testament, Sheol is translated by Hades. Usually Hades is seen as a place for the wicked. God delivers the righteous Sheol or the grave (Ps 49-15). Sheol (hell) is a place of punishment for the wicked who do not repent of their sins and not committed their lives to Jesus Christ (Ps 9:17).

The word "paradise" is of Persian origin and means a park or garden of peace and harmony. It was used by the translators of the Septuagint to mean the Garden of Eden (Gen 2.8). only appears three times in the New Testament (Luke 23:43; 2 Cor 12.4; Rev 2.7).

Theologians believe that "the place of the dead," Hades was divided into two parts. These take based on the text Luke 16.19-31 in the text that refers to Lazarus and the rich. The first, faithful to God, he was taken to the "Bosom of Abraham", or Paradise, being at rest and happiness. The rich, proud and incredulous went to Hades, where he experiences distress and atrocious suffering. P

Myer Pearlman says that Christ descended into Sheol (Ps 16:10; 49.15), "the underworld of spirits" (Matthew 12:40; Luke 23.42,43), and freed the saints of the Old Testament took them to the heavenly paradise (Eph 4.8 -10). The place occupied by the just awaiting the resurrection was moved to the heavenly places (Eph 4.8; 2 Cor 12.2).

Since then, the spirits of the righteous ascend to heaven and the spirits of the wicked down to the condemnation (Rev. 20.13,14). According to the biblical texts, Paradise would be on top (Prov 15.24a) and Hades below (Prov 15.24b).

LEARN MOREPurgatory"Roman Catholics teach that all but a few saints and special martyrs, must pass through purgatory (more than a local condition) in order to be prepared to enter heaven. Augustine introduced the idea in the fourth century, but the word ' purgatory 'was not used to not be in the twelfth century. This doctrine has not been drawn completely unless the Council of Trent in the sixteenth century. the doctrine of purgatory proved to be profitable for the Roman Catholic Church, but gave the appearance that God would showing favoritism to the rich, whose relatives have no trouble paying the masses required to get them quickly from purgatory. SUBSIDY scatological"Sheol - The Old Testament uses the Hebrew word Sheol 65 times to describe the residence of the dead The Septuagint translates this word in Greek as 'hell', and the New Testament refers to it several times (Luke 16:23) In the translations.. Old Testament into English, the word appears variously as 'hell', 'pit' and 'grave'. Sheol can have different meanings in different contexts, bringing some confusion and different interpretations about the exact nature of its meaning. Be the grave or the underworld, Sheol speaks the most of the deep, the antithesis of the highest heavens (3rd 11.8; cf. Prov 9:18) Seol also refers to a place of punishment which only God has the power to deliver. " (LAHAYE, Tim. Enciclopédia Popular de Profecia Bíblica, l.ed. Rio de Janeiro: CPAD, 2008, p.417).

In the story of the rich man and Lazarus (Luke 16), we see the intermediate state of the saved. The right to die is driven by angels to Paradise (v. 22). Oue privilege, which honors have saved to die, and be greeted by angels. To cross the thief Jesus said, "Today you will be with me in paradise" (Luke 23.42,43). The spirit and soul leave the body and remain in place waiting (Paradise), awaiting the resurrection in the coming of Jesus.

2. The Righteous will be Received by the Lord
It is the Lord Jesus who receives the spirit of the righteous after death. Take the example of Stephen that is narrated in Acts 7:59. To the amazement of the wicked, they will see Jesus gloriously welcome those who accepted Him as Savior. The dead in Christ and the wicked will keep your personal identity, your personality and consciousness after death.

Moses was buried by God, appears, talking to Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration (Matthew 17.3; Luke 9.30-32), next to Elijah, who was caught. Note that the same names are Moses and Elijah. Despite all that has been said, we must remember that, for the saved, death is a gain: "For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain." Paul had a "desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better" (Philippians 1.21,23).

3. The intermediate state of the wicked. They go to Sheol or Hades, or hell, that is your final destination (Ps 9:17). In this "intermediate state", awaiting their final judgment. Hades is a place "below", that is, opposite to heaven ("bosom of Abraham"). The rich "looked up" seeing "Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom" (v. 23): "To the wise the way of life is up, so that he may depart from hell which is below" (Proverbs 15:24).

3. The intermediate state of the wicked. The fact is that the wicked will suffer and be aware. The rich wicked was in "torment" (v. 23) and cried for mercy (v. 24). The wicked who died without Christ are "in prison" (I Peter 3:19) and there they will remember those who were on earth (v. 28). The Scriptures say that they can not be comforted by anyone, "And besides, there is a great gulf between us and you, so that those who would pass from hence to you can not, neither can there, go to here "(v. 26).

It is therefore clear that those who go down to Hades can not communicate with the living. They are reminded that life had the opportunity to hear the Scriptures, but despised his warnings (v. 27-31).

SUBSIDY Eschatological
"The State Final of the wickedThe Bible describes the final fate of the wicked as something terrible and that goes beyond all imagination. Are the 'outer darkness', where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth because of frustration and remorse caused by the wrath of God (Matthew 22:13; 25:30). It is a 'fiery furnace' (Mt 13.42,50), where the fire by its nature is unquenchable. Cause eternal loss, destruction or life (2 Tim 1.9), and 'the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever "(Rev. 14:11; cf. 20:10). Jesus used the Gehenna word as a term applicable to it.

SUBSIDY Eschatological
After the final judgment, death and Hades will be cast into the lake of fire (Rev. 20:14), for this, which is out of the new heavens and the new earth (Rev 22:15), will be the only place where death exist. It is then that the victory of Christ over death as the wages of sin, is finally and fully accomplished (1 Cor 15:26). But in the new heavens and earth will be no more death (Rev. 21.4) " (HORTON, Stanley. Teologia Sistemática. Uma Perspectiva Pentecostal. l.ed. Rio de Janeiro: CPAD, 1996, pp. 642,43).

After the first resurrection (Rom 8:11), the saved go to the Lamb, will the Judgment Seat of Christ, and live with God for eternity. This is the final destination of the saved. Their bodies will rise and become incorruptible (cf. 1 Cor 15.42-44). The same body that died will be transformed by God and raised "in glory", similar to the body of Jesus to resurrect (Philippians 3:21).

The wicked will rise to "shame and everlasting contempt" (Daniel 12.2). Your final destination is the lake of fire (Rev. 20:15), where "there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matthew 22:13). There the wicked will enjoy the company of the devil, the Antichrist and the False Prophet (Rev. 20:10; 21.8). Currently, many wicked go unpunished, but in hell they will receive eternal punishment for all you have done wrong (2 Thess 1.9).

Saved in Jesus and the wicked will have different futures.
Life in the New Jerusalem will be exciting. Our infinite God will never be without new joys and blessings to offer redeemed. And since the city gates will be open forever (Rev. 21:25; cf. Is 60.11), who knows what the new heavens and earth will have to explore "? (HORTON, Stanley. Teologia Sistemática: Uma Perspectiva Pentecostal. l.ed. Rio de Janeiro: CPAD, 1996, p.645).

"New JerusalemThe Scriptures describe the New Jerusalem as the "Jerusalem which is above" (Gal 4:26), 'the city of the living God, Jerusalem celestiat1 (Heb 12:22), and' Holy City 'that' God came down from heaven '( ap 21. 2,10). AT refers to it as God's dwelling. In the NT, it is also the heavenly abode of the saints. The sacred celestial city structures contributed to the Tabernacle and the Temple project on earth. Ouando down as the "tabernacle of God is with men" (Rev. 21.3), will be a temple both physical (Rev. 21.12-21) and spiritual (Rev. 21:22).

The study of eschatology is one of the most edifying for the Church at all times, especially in this century, when many signs suggest that the coming of Jesus can happen at any time. You can proceed with the study of Biblical Eschatology. Read the Word of God, pray, fast and is waiting for the most eschatological event of all time: The Rapture of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
