WHAT IS FINANCIAL AID?• Financial Aid is the term used to

describe assistance in funding higher education.

• Federal Government (Pell Grant, SEOG, Stafford/Perkins)

• Individual States (Illinois MAP Grant)• Individual School Funds (Need-Based

Grant Assistance)• Private Scholarships (Merit or Need Aid)

• Subsidized & Unsubsidized eligibility• Base annual loan limits depending on

maximum subsidized $4,500o $7,500 for each remaining

undergraduate year; maximum subsidized $5,500

• Repayment begins 6 months after student finishes or is no longer enrolled at least-half time.

• Loan program for parents of dependent undergraduate students

• Fixed interest rate: 6.84%• Interest accrues at first disbursement
