THE FINANCIAL REPORTING PROJECT This project involves an in-depth analysis of a publicly traded company. The project will be completed in groups of four participants. You are free to form your own groups, but you must form/find a group on or before the date indicated on the schedule. If you are unable to form/find a group, see the Professor no later than the second-class meeting. I will approve companies on a first-come, first-served basis and hence it is important for your group to decide on your top two choices as soon as possible and communicate it to me by email. Your company must be a US based company. As soon as you receive approval from me, your group must obtain a copy of your company’s latest Annual Report, 10-K, and Proxy Statement. You can do this by downloading and printing the documents from your company’s website or from the EDGAR database at the Securities & Exchange Commission (www.sec.gov ). After downloading the documents, you must email them to your Professor or to the Teaching Assistant, if your Professor so directs. The project is completed in two phases. The first phase develops an understanding of the companies you have chosen and the environment in which they operates. You will follow the Ongoing Project details in each of the chapters in the textbook. These data points will be the basis of your written report that is turned in. The second phase entails a general review of the current year information in the annual report and 10-K as defined in the Ongoing Project details for your companies. As well as reporting on the company’s activities compares your company’s performance to their competitor and provides an investment recommendation. Each phase of the project culminates in the submission of a report and at the conclusion of the final phase; you will evaluate each member of your group by completing the EVALUATION OF GROUP MEMBERS.

THE FINANCIAL REPORTING PROJECT

This project involves an in-depth analysis of a publicly traded company.

You can do this by downloading and printing the documents from your company’s website or from the EDGAR database at the Securities & Exchange Commission (www.sec.gov).
