New Sermon Series this Summer

“For”

As Jesus began his ministry in and around Galilee, people from varying areas and beliefs journeyed to Galilee for an interaction with this “Jesus of Naza-reth.” As the crowds began to grow, Jesus climbed a hillside and began to teach them saying, “Blessed are…”. This summer, we will spend some time jour-neying with those Jesus called “blessed,” and discover that we mustn’t stop at the “blessed.” We’ll wade into the deep end of what they were blessed..for...

Updates on Care Ministry At present, work continues on details as it relates to development of a ‘Care Team’ at FRC.

We are encouraged by the interest shown on the part of several to be a part of this ministry. Anyone who is willing to participate in some aspect of this ministry (shut in, hospital, hospice, rehab, or new parent visita-tion as well as rides) is welcome. We will need a broad spectrum of people to make this effective and fruitful. Please convey your interest or if you know of someone in need of special care to the FRC church office or to one of our current elders listed below.

James 5:13–16 “Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” NLT

Have you Seen the New Flooring in Education Wing?

The new flooring in the Education wing is complete and looks great and will last for many years! However, the flooring wasn’t cheap.

And now you can help offset the cost.

If you would like to make a donation for the cost of the new flooring ($12,500) , place your donation in a blank envelope and label it “Carpet” along with your name. We will then make sure this gets applied and reduces the flooring expense on the budget.

In Case You Missed the E-mail Sent Out here is the

Note From the Discernment Team

During this time of transition, the Discernment Team is striving to keep the congregation informed, and actively participating, as we all work through this process to-gether. The 4 “Open Forums” held in April was our de-sire to hear from the congregation on some of the greatest needs, desires, and dreams for the future of FRC. Much information was gathered and we are work-ing through that information to find common themes and direction.

One of the areas that was clearly prominent was the area of “care ministry” - care for the shut-ins, hospital visitations, new families, newborn babies, and oth-ers. In an attempt to ease us all through this area, the coming change, and gap that will be left with Pastor Steve moving, the Discernment Team recently explored many options. The option that floated to the top at this time of transition has been the formation of a “Care Team” to help address these care areas. The Discern-ment Team made that recommendation to Consistory and it was approved to move in this direction as a po-tential solution not only in the short term but also as a potential option for a long term approach to Care Min-istry at FRC.

Meetings are happening and details are being formal-ized. Pastor Steve and a group of elders, staff, and oth-er volunteers are beginning to discuss how to best pro-ceed and address some of the logistics to be put in place to help the church through this transition. Pastor Steve has agreed to be integral in recruiting, training, mentoring, and equipping this important team prior to his departure.

As more details become available, we will do our best to keep everyone informed. As always, please do not hesitate to communicate with us your hopes, dreams, desires, and questions.

On behalf of the Discernment Team, Dave Van Nieuwenhuyzen

Summer Giving

Summer is a time when schedules vary and people travel on weekends. If this sounds like you, we would encourage you to consider giving your offerings through Electronic Contributions or what we call , ACH.

With ACH, you can decide when and how much you would like to give. This could be weekly, semi monthly or even monthly. And, this amount can be changed or discontinued at any time.

Pick up a form found on the right side of the mail-boxes or online under the “FRC Member” section to see the options available and to enroll in ACH giving. And, feel free to contact any deacon if you have any questions about giving through ACH.
