Introduction

In addition to the main technicalprogram, the conference will includeone-day short courses (Monday, July 6).It will include a general introduction tothermography in the morning andspecialized courses on variousapplication fields given in parallelsessions during the afternoon (predictivecondition management, evaluation ofcomposites, ...)material characterization

Striving to stimulate youngresearchers, the organizingcommittee will award the bestconference contributionpresented and authored only bystudents.

Striving to stimulate youngresearchers, the organizingcommittee will award the bestoral and poster papersauthored and presented byyoung researchers below theage of 35 years.

Apart from the above, therewould also be a best oral andposter presentation Award.

The first Quantitative InfraRed Thermography Asian Conference, (QIRT-Asia 2015) will takeplace during July 6-10, 2015, Radisson Blu Hotel, Mahabalipuram, (near Chennai) India.Since 1992, the Quantitative Infrared Thermography (QIRT) conference is a biannualinternational forum which brings together specialists from industry and academia, whoshare an active interest in the latest developments of science, experimental practices andinstrumentation, related to IR thermography. Previously QIRT conferences have been heldin Paris (1992), Sorrento (1994), Stuttgart (1996), Lodz (1998), Reims (2000), Dubrovnik(2002), Brussels (2004), Padova (2006), Krakow (2008), Québec City (2010), Naples (2012)and Bordeaux (2014). With the growing interest in this field and the growing number ofattendees particularly coming from Asian countries, the QIRT Council has started a sisterconference series called QIRT Asia. The first Quantitative InfraRed ThermographyAsian Conference, (QIRT-Asia 2015) will take place during July 6-10, 2015,Mahabalipuram, (near Chennai) India.

About Infrared ThermographyInfrared Thermography (IRT) is an advanced Non Destructive Evaluation method, where thesurface temperature of the object is mapped by detecting the IR radiation emitted by them.IRT started as a qualitative tool in electrical and process industry for condition monitoring.Advances in sensors, electronics, instrumentation including signal and image processingsaw the transformation of this method to a quantitative one. Today IR imaging is one ofthose few NDE methods that has applications cutting across all industries, research andsociety, ranging from astronomy, military, medical, energy audit, surveillance, conditionmonitoring, materials characterization.
