All convicts had different sentences like 7 years transportation, the cat-o’-nine, hung to death and jail. Everything was terrifying.
We are very lucky that we only have jail today.

If you got chained with someone you usually wont be with anyone you now.
Captain Arthur Phillip was born in London on 11 October 1738.
He joined the Royal Navy when he was fifteen, and alternately earned a living as a navy officer and as a farmer.
In October 1786, Phillip was appointed Governor-designate of the proposed British penal colony of New South Wales.
The First Fleet left Portsmouth, England, on 13 May 1787 Captain Arthur Phillip was initially on the HMS Sirius, which was the leading ship of the First Fleet. In November 1787, a month after leaving the Cape of Good Hope, he transferred to the HMS Supply arriving in Botany Bay on 18 January 1788.
Poor health forced Phillip to return to England in 1792.
He resigned his commission soon after arriving back in England and died in London on 31 August 1814.

Male convicts were allowed a ration 1lb of meat per day and 1 to 2lb per day of flour or cornmeal to make damper. If they were lucky the meat they received would be fresh but it was usually far from it. The convicts were also supplied with some tea and sugar and usually managed to buy tobacco and rum. Female convicts were given two-thirds of what the male convicts received. The convicts didn't receive fresh fruit or vegetables, but those convicts who were lucky enough to receive a good posting were allowed to grow their fruit and vegetables on a small plot of land.
