Most of us agree that it is

important to get out there and

vote. In an effort to assist

community members with

registering to vote, the Library is

pleased to be part of National

Voter Registration Day on

September 27th from 3:00-6:00

p.m.

The League of Women Voters will

be here at the Library and there

will be a table set up get you

registered to vote. Paper forms

will be available as well as

computer access to fill out your

voter registration on the spot.

Stop by the Windsor-Severance

Library, have refreshments, pick

up some voter education

information and get your vote on!

This month your Library will be

getting out into the community,

even more than we usually do!

Why? The Clearview Library

District is participating in the

global event Outside the Lines,

that promotes libraries and

librarianship.

Outside the Lines is an initiative

designed by Colorado library

marketers and directors that gets

libraries “walking the walk” –

taking action to show our

communities how important

libraries are and how they’ve

changed.

This celebration takes many of the

concepts discussed at RSquared –

The Risk & Reward Conference,

such as creativity, customer

curiosity, culture, community and

creative spaces, and puts them into

action where they count – in our

local communities.

Keep an eye out for Library staff

in unexpected locations this

month!

National

Voter

Registration

Day In 2014, approximately 52 million

of the Rising American Electorate

in America did not vote because

they weren’t registered, missed

registration deadlines or did not

know how or where to register to

vote.

The Windsor-Severance Library is open:

Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m.– 8:00 p.m.

Saturday 9:00 a.m.– 5:00 p.m.

Sunday 1:00 p.m.– 5:00 p.m. 720 3rd St, Windsor,

Bomo info!

Bob was a physical education teacher in California for 30 years before retiring and moving to Colorado with his wife, Deb. When he’s not at the Library, he likes to play pickleball, go bowling, and play golf. About 4 years ago, Bob heard about a wonderful program where therapy dogs read with children in libraries and schools, so he and Max, (his previous dog), became involved. Every week Max would come home and tell Ranger about all the fantastic stories the wonderful children would read to him. It's no surprise that Ranger wanted to go to the Library too. Ranger is a 4 1/2 year old St. Bernard mix (with probably retriever or collie). When he was about 7 weeks old, his niece and her fiancé found Ranger abandoned on the side of a

road. After 2 years they could no longer keep him so he came to live with Bob. In Bob’s words: “ Ranger loves people. He loves to shake hands and say hello to all the boys and girls and moms and dads (and staff). He loves being petted and often lays down to get a tummy rub. At home he loves to take walks around the neighborhood, play tug-of-war and chase me around the yard and tackle me from behind. He is a big, lovable lummox of a dog and I hope we can continue to come to the Library for many years to come.” The Library hopes so too!

The Windsor-Severance Library District

Foundation Biannual book sale is just around

the corner.

This year the sale will be hosted at the

Windsor Art & Heritage Center, 116 N 5th St., Windsor.

September 23– October 1

Hours are 10 a.m.—5 p.m.

Proceeds from the book sale go to the Library

Foundation. The Windsor-Severance Library

Foundation provides financial support for the

Clearview Library District to meet the needs of a

diverse and growing population. It established an

Endowment Fund to assist with long-term library

needs. The Endowment Fund generates income for

library programs and wants that extend beyond the

library’s yearly budgets. The Foundation provides a

vehicle for tax-deductible contributions through its

501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt status.

A small percentage of funds raised are dedicated to

short-term projects such as the Read and Grow

program, and Author Event Series.

The best part of the book sale is the fact that you can

find all kinds of books and movies, from non-fiction

to children’s books. All for great prices and for a

great cause.

Book sale

The song may say, ‘I’d like to teach the world

to sing,” but did you know that

singing actually teaches us? Singing breaks

words into individual syllables, which helps us

hear the sounds of a language.

Your kids love your voice! Sing nursery

rhymes and silly songs like “The Wheels on

the Bus” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”

with them. Make up words to your own

songs. Sing, dance, and play music!
