The Monito Del Monte By: Amanda Craig
The Monito Del Monte is spanish for “little monkey of the bush”. This adorable little creature can only be found in the southwestern part of South America. Monito Del Monte are nocturnal, which means they sleep during the day. Monitos del monte are primarily insectivores. They eat insects and other invertebrates they find on the branches of trees
and cracks in bark, but during the summer they eat a lot of fruit, especially mistletoe fruit. Monito del monte, ( Dromiciops gliroides), are a small opossum representing an ancient group related to Australian dasyurid marsupials. It is the only surviving species of the order Microbiotheria (family Microbiotheria) and differs from other living American
opossums. Adult Monito Del Montes can reach up to twenty-six centimeters in length, so they’re pretty small. Monito Del Montes are still a mysterious creature.

501’st legion Boxer kopcsak-yeung
Prologue The year was 1862 the union was on roll, with victories stacked higher
than the eiffel tower. In the state New York a 18 year old boy worked in the field of his
mother's farm. His father was killed by confederates while in West Virginia on business.
The boy's’ name was Tim Carson. As he tilled the field he seethed in rage. For it only 4
days ago he received word of his father's death. He now more than ever wanted to join
the union. To avenge his dad and to be useful. So the next day he went to a sign up
booth and joined the 501’st yankee division. They gave him his uniform and told him to
report to city hall the next day. That night his mother begged him to take it back and
not join up but the young man would not budge.

The Vaquita Whale By: Amanda Craig
The Vaquita is the world’s rarest marine mammal, and they’re on the edge of extinction.
This little porpoise wasn't discovered until 1958 and a little over half a century later, we are
on the brink of losing them forever. Vaquita are often caught and drowned in gillnets used
by illegal fishing operations in marine protected areas within Mexico's Gulf of California.
The population has dropped drastically in the last few years. Their scientific name is
Phocoena sinus, and they can reach up to 5 feet and weigh up to one-hundred and twenty (120) pounds. So compared to other whale species they aren’t that big. The Vaquita only live
in the northern gulf of California, so you might be able to see one. The Vaquita porpoise
normally dines on benthic fishes, crustaceans and squid. They are not really selective on
the types of small fish and squid they consume as they search along the relatively shallow
waters of its habitat, often hunting in lagoons. The Vaquita are mysterious creatures, and
there is still so much to learn about them.

The Black-Tailed Prairie Dog By: Amanda Craig
The black-tailed prairie dog, is a rodent of the family Sciuridae found in the Great Plains of North America from about the United States-Canada border to the United States-Mexico border. These furry creatures may not be considered endangered, but they are still extremely difficult to spot. This is due to them pretty much always being underground, even when they are overground, people mistake them for a beaver. Of course, beavers barely look like Prairie dogs, for they have a rather large cardboard-like tail, and why would a beaver be in the middle of the desert? Now, back to the Black-tailed Prairie dog. Their diet mostly consists of grasses, sedges, flowering plants, roots, and seeds. The black-tailed prairie dog is generally tan to pinkish-brown. Coat colour varies slightly with the seasons, with body hair being tipped black in winter but white in summer. The color black attracts heat, so it makes sense for it to adapt like that. Black-tailed Prairie dogs are one of the many, many amazing creatures out there.

Stellar Dynamics By: Amanda Craig
Stellar Dynamics is the branch of astrophysics which describes in a statistical way; the way the collective motions of stars subject to their mutual gravity. The
description of stellar dynamical systems is usually concerned with the statistical properties of many orbits rather than with the detailed positions and velocities of
an individual orbit. Thus it is not surprising that the Kinetic Theory of gases developed by Maxwell Boltzmann and others in the late 19th century was adapted
by astrophysicists such as Jeans to stellar dynamics in the early 20th century. Subsequent results in stellar dynamics contributed to the first analyses of kinetic plasma physics in the 1950s. Then rapid evolution of plasma theory in the second
half of the 20th century, stimulated partly by prospects of controlled thermonuclear fusion, in turn contributed to stellar dynamics.

The Bumblebee Bat By: Amanda Craig
The Bumblebee bat was named that because of its amazing similarities with the bumblebee on the way it looks. These bats can only reach up to one inch in height and they weigh up to two grams. Their scientific name is Craseonycteris Thonglongyai, and they are proven to be the smallest bat that humans have ever discovered (that was recorded). They are also called the Hog-nosed Bat, and they have been known to land on people’s fingers to rest. When people first saw this furry little creature, they believe that it came from “the gods” as a reward for being good to the Earth, because of how the little creature was so friendly with people. Their diet consists mostly of small insects and plants. They are usually only awake for fifty minutes during the day, and all night. The Bumblebee bat still remains the cutest bat ever (according to websites and books. But it’s only an opinion!)
