The Sanctuary Lamp burns constantly to proclaim the real presence of Jesus in the Tabernacle. This week it also reminds us to pray for all of us here, that we may come together as a community in the family of Christ.

Lord, hold our troops in Your loving hands, protect them as they protect us. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior.
December 20Micah 5:1-4a; Psalm 80; Hebrews 10:5-10; Luke 1:39-45
Our psalm refrain can be our prayer today: “Lord, make us turn to you; let us see your face and we shall be saved.” As we hear God’s holy word today, let us indeed turn to the Lord and see our loving God’s face in the small town of Bethlehem, in young Mary and her cousin Elizabeth, and in all those whose lives intersect with ours every day.

DECEMBER 20, 2015 – FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENTAs we draw closer to Christmas, our attention turns to tiny Bethlehem, where the Son of God will be born, and the teenager Mary, who is to bear this Son of God into the world. A small town and a young, seemingly insignificant Jewish girl show us that God’s plans include each and every one of us, whether we are wealthy, rich, and strong or not. Let us continue our joyful Advent vigil for the One who will bring salvation, justice, mercy, and peace.

Everything is wrapping up for the year 2015 at Saint Benedict Catholic School. Piles of toys were collected by SBCS students and delivered to Catholic Social Services as part of our Advent activities. The school musical, "An Out of the Box Christmas", was performed last week and was a truly original experience that allowed students to view the birth of Jesus in a whole new way. Approximately 500 people were in attendance for this fabulous ALL SCHOOL event. Exams were finished on Wednesday for the Middle School. Classes held their parties on Thursday with first grade having a special Polar Express day. Finally, our last Advent Mass was Friday, December 18th. We are truly ready for Christmas.

SupportElderly Religious:
Religious give thanks. “We cannot begin to repay all who contribute,” writes a Catholic sister. “So we pray to God, who is never outdone in generosity, to reward you.” Heartfelt thanks for your donation to last week’s collection for the Retirement Fund for Religious. May God bless you for your goodness!
