The Sacrament of the Sick My dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ:

We are offering the Sacrament of the Sick every First Friday of the month at the 8:00am Mass and by appointment at any time during the week.

Who should receive this Sacrament? 1.Every believer who trusts in God and sees through the Sacraments of the church an excellent opportunity to receive the manifestation of God’s Grace and healing. 2.Anyone who is sick, in pain or distress. 3.Any believer who is scheduled for surgery or any treatment.

What do we need to remember about this Sacrament? 1.It is for living people, not for deceased. 2.The “last Rights” does not mean last minute; it is a time for healing, strength, reconciliation and blessing; it is the same sacrament. 3.It is recommended to administer this Sacrament in the presence of family members and friends.

It is prudent to prepare our encounter with the Lord when there is still time. As we prepare ourselves before every Mass to receive Jesus in Holy Communion, likewise we must prepare ourselves to meet with the Lord in our final stage. It is a possibility that the Priest may not be on time at the last minute, and if that happens, I know that people get mad and may think the Priest did not care. It is not true, at least in my case. There is a lot of work with seven nursing homes, two hospices, HP Hospital and now the new Children’s Hospital. Please, be conscious about this pastoral reality.

I invite all members of St. Columbkille to see this Sacrament as it is; a time of Grace, Healing and Blessing before we meet with the Lord in heaven.

Let us leave behind any kind of superstition about this sacrament, it is not magic; and let us face with sincerity and responsibility our friendship with our Merciful God. As the majority of us have prepared or will prepare for our retirement, Christians should do the same-not leaving for tomorrow what we can do today. God is not holding his friendship with us to the end of our journey; on the contrary He offers His Heart to us so we can count on Him as our unconditional Friend forever.

Thank you for taking time to meditate about the gift of this Sacrament.

The church is open for scheduled Masses and personal visits from 7:00am to 12noon Monday through Friday. We welcome you and hope you will attend Mass and visit. We ask that you follow the established guidelines to prevent the spread of Coronavirus which are: 1. Practice Social Distancing - keep at least 6 feet apart from others when you find a seat and during

Communion. We have plenty of room to socially distance and if it becomes necessary, more Masses will be added.

2. Face Masks must be worn at all times in respect for others - bring your own mask. 3. Sanitize your hands when you enter and leave the church. Sanitizer will be provided. 4. Your donations and offertory envelopes can be dropped off before or after Mass in one of the

collection boxes located throughout the church. 7. The church is fully sanitized with a mist twice a week, and after each Mass.

Youth Group Meeting

All Middle School & High School Students are welcome!

Each Sunday after 5:30pm Mass Ministry Center Youth Room or via Zoom

Youth Group met via Zoom last Sunday to read the Gospel (Exodus 20:1-17) and discuss the 10 commandments. Afterward, each of the kids came up with an 11th Commandment. Coincidentally, we had 10 as well due to a few repeats. Here they are in no particular order:

• Respect the Environment. • Love yourself. • Be kind. • Have empathy for others. • Keep and open mind. • Don’t commit any crimes. • Express your emotions. • Give your all in all you do. • Find the good in others and celebrate their strengths. • Love and honor your children.

Please remember to return any materials borrowed from our parish library. Check your bookcases and DVD players. Every year we lose 3% of our collection.

Items are lost because they are not signed- out properly; people return north with the item and forget to bring it back to Florida and some people do not understand that we have a lending library and think they can keep the item.

We want you to enjoy the library with as few rules as possible:

1. When using the library for the first time, fill out a registration card.

2. Use the sign-out card when borrowing and item. Clearly write the date (mo.year), name (last name and middle initial).
