Bulletin for January 2018
January, 2018
Dear Parish Family,
As we begin the new year, I want to thank all of those who made
our Christmas season so special. We begin this new year with the
theme of “wellness.” Wellness is defined as finding balance in your
life emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually. The more we
live in wellness, the more we can help others and the more we become
the best version of ourselves. During advent, we focused on emotional
wellness with themes of healing, forgiveness, prayer, and asking God
to heal our emotional scars.
We will now move towards physical wellness, remembering that
our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Ask yourself, what do I
need to do to become physically well? Do I exercise? Am I eating
well? Am I taking care of myself? We must be a physical living
witness of the Gospel. What better time than this new year to set goals
and through prayer, make changes for physical wellness.
Let’s make 2018 a time that, as a parish, we continue to grow
closer to God by focusing on wellness. When we are the best version
of self, we honor and praise God showing him that we love the
creation we are.
Blessings,
The Month dedicated to the Holy Name of Jesus
St. Francis Parish News & Announcements
.Anointing of the Sick
Offered each first Friday after the Noon Mass in the Church. Next anointing offered will be Friday, January 5th, 2018.
Call the Parish Office for more information at 661-327-4734
Check out our new website! www.stfran.org.
Did You Know?
Sixteen years ago, the Ariey family came across a particularly
unfortunate trailer park with struggling families. This sparked
their drive to help those in need and so they established a
charity project called Christmas in the Trailer Park. They
collected enough food and gifts for fifty families in just the
first year! As the popularity of the project grew, the Arieys
and their team were bringing holiday cheer to
hundreds of families every Christmas.
In 2011, the project was renamed in honor of their late son,
Jason Ariey. Jason was always passionate about helping those
less fortunate. On any given Monday, you could find him here
at the parish feeding the poor at our Monday Night Dinners.
Therefore, it was a natural decision to change the name of the
enterprise to the Jason Ariey Memorial Christmas Project. His
generous spirit lives on each year as our parish community
comes together to support this charitable movement.
The Ariey family would like to thank everyone who helped
donate their time and money to the Jason Ariey Memorial
Christmas Project this year. With everyone's help we were
able to bless over 400 families with food and presents.
Be sure to look for the donation ornaments again next year!
