Luis Bravo’s internationally acclaimed dance spectacular, Forever Tango, mixes sleek, sexy tango with eye-popping performances by a collection of flawless dancers. This heady cocktail of dance and music from the cultural brew of colonial Argentina never fails to rouse the senses – especially when executed with the unselfconscious emotion wrought by Forever Tango. Sensuous and sophisticated, the tango inhabits a world where everything can be said with the flick of a leg, the tug of a hand, the tap of a foot and the arch of an eyebrow. Forever Tango celebrates the passionate music and dance of Argentina with six world-class Argentine Tango couples. In addition there is a traditional Argentine 1930s style vocalist, Marcela Ríos, and a ten piece orchestra featuring the bandoneón, a 19th century Argentinian accordion. Forever Tango has played numerous Broadway engagements and has an international reputation of wowing audiences throughout Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia. Forever Tango was voted Best Touring Musical by Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle in San Francisco where it played an unprecedented 92 weeks at the Theatre on the Square and has returned season after season. Club Jaeb transforms the Straz Center’s Jaeb Theater into an intimate music space featuring folk, Americana, alternative, country and other “hand-picked music that matters.” Roots music guitarist Rod Picott walked away from his life hanging sheet rock to write songs capturing the tension between starkness and optimism found in his New England upbringing, earning critical acclaim as “Maine’s finest songwriter” (Boston Herald). Picott remains a singer-songwriter who mines the great themes of Americana music to unearth the gems of truth about chance, what ifs, and the confounding personalities along life’s wandering road. Gifted with the knack of the born storyteller, Picott turns anything he finds into music that matters. On his new album Fortune, Picott turns his focus inward, using himself — not the people around him — as the album’s main character. It’s his seventh solo release, written and recorded after years of heavy touring. Looking to make a record that could serve as a raw, authentic document of his live show, Picott recorded Fortune quickly, cutting six songs during his first day in the studio and finishing the entire album within a week and a half. Regularly priced tickets for the Monday, April 4, 7:30 p.m. performance by Rod Picott are $15-$29.50 and may be purchased by calling 813.229.STAR (7827) or 800.955.1045 outside Tampa Bay,in person at the Straz Center Ticket Sales Office or online at www.strazcenter.org. Irreverent comedian and social commentator David Cross has workedconsistently in television, film and the live performance circuit, endearing himselfto legions of fans. His smart and fearless comedy style is marked by asimultaneous honesty and cynicism that kind of goes beyond satire to somewhereelse. His solo work tends to focus on topics of religion, politics and a total refusalto skirt around any issue.

Characterized by his small frame, bald head and thick, dark glasses, theEmmy®-winner is perhaps best-known for the HBO sketch comedy series Mr.Show and for his role as Tobias Fünke in the sitcom Arrested Development.Though often, it is his memorable bit parts (Donnie, the guy who repeatedly says“Chicken Pot Pie” on NBC’s Just Shoot Me) that tend to stick in the imaginationof the larger public.
