The clocks have gone back, mornings are darker, evenings are cosier andthe shops are bursting with festive cheer, needless to say this is probablymy favourite time of year.

In 2006 Nintendo first launched the original Wii console. Neil SmithGem’s newest Business Manager talks to FutureNeil, you’ve recently joined Gem following a long andsuccessful career with Trust, what do you think so far? I’m really enjoying my time at Gem. The whole team havemade me feel extremely welcome and I’m enjoying workingwith such a wide range of different vendors whereas before Iwas focused on just one. Heading into peak season hasmeant that hitting the ground running is essential andeveryone around the office has helped so that I’m up to speedas quickly as possible.

As a Business Manager you’re the link between sales,purchasing and marketing and responsible for drivingthe business - what’s your biggest challenge?It is a unique role that many distributors don’t offer and thebiggest challenge has to be managing vendors expectationsduring this busy period. It’s a nice challenge to have though aswe are finding so many top games titles and new productsbeing released which are in such high demand. With all theplates we have to spin it’s crucial that none are dropped.

Nintendo's new console the Wii U goes on sale thismonth, and is set to change the way we play games.

The centrepiece of Nintendo's next gaming revolution is itsinnovative new controller, the Wii U Game Pad.
