DEATHS Here, at Church Street, on the 15th instant, Elizabeth Spence Park, relict of the Rev. James Mochrie, late minister of Colmonell. Here, at Hillhead, on the 16th instant, Mr William M’Cracken, watchmaker, aged 46 years. At Ballantrae, on the 31st ultimo, Mr James Aird, fisherman. At Culzean Home Farm, on the 12th instant, Mr Wm. White, land steward to the Most Noble the Marquis of Ailsa – much regretted. At Ayr, on the 30th ultimo, Captain Hawthorn Stewart, late of the Ann of Ayr. In his time, Captain Stewart has been the means of doing much good. In 1834 he saved the passengers and crew of the brig Cemetery of Londonderry, on her passage to America; for this he was presented by Lloyds with a handsome silver snuff-box, with a suitable inscription. Subsequently he saved 14 lives off the schooner Dumbarton, on the fame passage. At Buff Bay, St. George’s Jamaica, of malignant cholera, while in the active and faithful discharge of his professional duties, Dr. H. P. Chrichton. At sea, on board the steamer Sultan on the 30th ultimo, on his way home from Malta, Mr David Munro, advocate, Aberdeen, in the 26th year of his age. At Nagode, East Indies, on the 2d November, Brevet Major John Robert Sandford, of the 22d Madras Native Infantry.

At sea, on the 2d of October, 1850, Captain David M'Kittrick, of the ship "Benlomond" of Greenock, on the passage from Bombay to Liverpool, third surviving son of the late Mr William M'Kittrick, farmer of Cowan, in the parish of Kirkmaiden - much regretted. Suddenly, on the 24th instant, of apoplexy, having been on the previous day in his usually robust and good health, John Lamb, aged 58, and 32 years hedger and forester at Dunskey, Wigtownshire. He was a native of Northumberland - was in his earlier years trained to the business, with his father in law, Mr Turnbull, the forester, who, under the eye of the late Sir Hew Dalrymple Hamilton, reared the extensive nurseries, and planted out the grounds in making the place at Bargany, Ayrshire: and where, even then, Lamb's neat-handedness in the dressing and keeping of hedges were specially marked and acknowledged. At Balcrochan, parish of Colmonell, on the 24th inst., the wife of Mr Hugh M'Creath, farmer there. At Girvan, on the 26th inst., the wife of Mr William M'Queen. At Kishawar, East Indies, on the 12th Nov. last, of cholera, John Neilson, of the Bengal Royal Artillery. Mr Neilson was a native of Colmonell, Ayrshire.

6th February 1851 (Week 6) BIRTHS At Rephad House, on the 3d February, Mrs Guthrie of a son. Here, on the 6th inst, the wife of Mr Charles Miller merchant, of twin daughters. At Lochans Village, on the 2d current, Mrs Paton of a daughter. At Barrhill, on the 31st ultimo, Mrs M'William of the Barrhill Inn, of a daughter. At Fordhouse, Kildonnan, on the 31st ultimo, the wife of Mr Robert Russell of a daughter. MARRIAGES No Marriages DEATHS At Port William, on the 31st Jan., Robert Cumming, Esquire, in his 96th year. At 16, Hart Street, Edinburgh, on the 3d current, Jane Tunnock, aged 22 years. At Merslaugh, parish of Kirkcolm, on the 31st ultimo, in the 17th year of her age, Agnes, youngest daughter of Mr M'Meikan, farmer there. The deceased was an early and anxious inquirer after "the new and living way" and as the morning of life advanced, became conspicuous for all those virtues which adorn female character, and render the sex an ornament to society. Sorrowing relatives may console themselves with the well-grounded hope that such are not lost, but removed, or perhaps taken from the evil to come. At Portmullin, parish of Kirkcolm, on the 1st instant, at the advanced age of 92, Mr Andrew Kerr, farmer there. The deceased had been an elder of the Established Church in Kirkcolm, for something more than

the long period of 60 years, and has acted as a member of session, in conjunction with three successive ministers - although the incumbency of the two former clergymen extended over a period of 109 years! The protracted evening of life, which has now calmly terminated, was happily cheered and soothed by the assiduous attentions of an only surviving widowed daughter. 'Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright, for the end of that man is peace.' On 31st ultimo, at 3, Norfolk Street, London, of consumption, Mr John M'Keand, aged 35. His death will be deeply lamented by a circle of friends and relations. He was a kind and affectionate brother, and respected by all who knew him. Friends will please accept this intimation. At Hobart town, on the 22d September last, of consumption, Peter Douglas, late of Sandhead and Stoneykirk.

He enlisted into the 88th Regiment of Foot (Connaught Rangers) in 1804; was present under Colonel Duff at the attack of General Whitelocke's disastrous expedition on Buenos Ayres in 1806, and was severely wounded; thereafter at the following eleven battles under Colonel, now General Sir J. A. Wallace of Lochryan House, for which he received a medal with eleven, clasps of which he was very proud:- Talavera Busaco, Fuentes d'Onor, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz' Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nixolle, Orthes' Toulouse. At Wellington Square, Ayr, on the 18th instant Mrs M'Millan, of Lamloch, in her 36th year. At No. 28 Drummond Place, Edinburgh, on the 17th instant, Charles Kirkpatrick Sharpe, Esq., of Hoddam. At Glasgow, on the 17th current, Captain David Wyse, who for upwards of thirty years commanded the Londonderry and other steam ships belonging to the Glasgow and Londonderry Steam Packet Company, of which he was a partner. Shortly after the introduction of steam navigation into this country, he was the first to carry his steamer, the Britannia, on a pleasure trip from the Clyde to the Giant's Causeway, and was accompanied by an illustrious and distinguished party from all parts of Scotland. Out of this pleasure trip sprung up the present extensive and lucrative trade between the ports of the Clyde and the North of Ireland, from which unquestionably great reciprocal advantages have arisen to the inhabitants of both kingdoms. DEATH OF GENERAL THE HON. SIR ALEXANDER DUFF, G.C.H. - We are sorry to be called upon to announce the demise of this distinguished officer, who expired on Friday at his suburban resident, Percy Cross, near Fulham. The deceased was second son of the third Earl of Fife, and brother of the present Peer, to whom he was heir presumptive. The gallant General had seen some active service during his career, having entered the army as Ensign in the 66th foot, in 1793. In 1818 the officers of the 88th, or Connaught Rangers, presented him with a most valuable sword, in testimony of their respect and regard. In 1837 Sir Alexander received the Colonelcy of the 37th Foot, now vacant, and in 1838 he was advanced to the rank of General. Sir Alexander was a Deputy-Lieutenant of the county of Banff. - Globe.

When a young man, he entered the Revenue service with that active officer, Capt. Douay, whose name, some sixty years ago, struck terror amongst the smugglers on the west coast. VICE-ADMIRAL SIR CHARLES MALCOLM died at Brighton on the 14th inst., in the sixty-ninth year of his age. He was actively employed during the war in the Channel, on the north coast of Spain, and in the West Indies. He was superintendent of the Indian Navy for ten years. Sir Charles was brother of the late Major General Sir John Malcolm. THE CHEVALIER PARISOT DE GUYMONT, who belonged to the family of Lavalett, the illustrious Grand Master of the Order of Malta, of which the chevalier was one of the few surviving Knights, has just died in the convent of St. Jean de Catane, in Sicily, to which the directing chapter of that celebrated order had retired. He distinguished himself in the expedition which the last grand master sent against Algiers towards the end of the eighteenth century; and General Bonaparte, when he took possession of Malta, demanded to see M. de Guymont, and received him with marked distinction. He was at the 77th year of his age.

DEATH OF COLONEL STORY. - Colonel Story died at Brompton on the 3d instant, aged 66 years. He entered the army in 1803 as a cornet in the 3d Dragoon Guards, with which regiment he served in the Peninsula from 1809 to the end of the war in 1814, during which period he commanded a troop. The late Colonel Story received the war medal and three clasps for his services at Talavera, Albuera, Vittoria, and Toulouse.

At Goudie Holm, Dailly, on the 8th instant, Mary, youngest daughter of Mr Knox, jeweller, Ayr. Mr Broadley, M.P. for the East Riding of Yorkshire, died on the 8th instant, in his 58th year. He was a Protectionist Whig. It may be recollected that in 1815 he was the author of a remonstrance to Lord John Russell, on the occasion of the noble lord writing a letter to the electors of London, in which he recommended the immediate repeal of the corn laws as an antidote to famine. Lieutenant-Colonel J.B. Gardiner died on the 8th instant, after a lingering and painful illness. He entered the army in 1803, served with the 50th Regiment in the expedition to Copenhagen in 1807, in the campaigns in Portugal and Spain in 1808-9, and was present in the battles of Rolcia, Vimiera, and

Destined as he was to the ministry, his Heavenly Master has been pleased to call him home to another and more glorious sphere, leaving his sorrowing parents to comfort themselves with the reflection that the jewel entrusted to them was too precious not to be soon reclaimed by the Great Giver. At Ohio Cottage, near Ramsay, Isle of Man, on the 29th ultimo, Captain John Henderson, long engaged in the South Sea whale fishing - a native of Portpatrick. At Cathcart Street, Greenock, Mary, aged 3 years, daughter of Mr William M'Culloch; also, on the 7th ultimo, Marion George aged 30 years, wife of the said Mr William M'Culloch - deeply regretted. On the 21st ultimo, at Melbose, Isle of Lewis, Mrs Margaret Gordon, aged 63 years, wife of Mr David Houston, farmer and grazier there, for many years tenant of the farm of Loch Roy, Borgue, near Kirkcudbright, who was much respected, and is deeply regretted.
