ABSTRACT. Five new species ofSpilopteron (Ichneumonidae: Acaenitinae), viz., S. crassifacialium,

longitubus, jlavescutatum, dualis, and bellulon, are described from China. The known species from China are

listed, along with a key to the Chinese species.

Key words: Ichneumonidae, Acaenitinae, Spilopteron, taxonomy, China.

Introduction

Spilopteron Townes, is a medium-sized acaenitine genus. So far 22 species have beendescribed (Yu & Horstman, 1997) of which 4 occur in the Nearctic Region, 2 in Japan and16 in China and Taiwan. We discovered five additional new species in China, viz., S.crassifacialium (Guangxi: Jinxiu), S. longitubus (Guangxi: Kangxian), S. flavescutatum(Guangxi: Jinxiu), S. dualis (Yunnan: Jinping) and S. bellulon (Shanxi: Ningshan, Gangsu:Kangxian). These are described below. The previously known species from China arelisted and a key to the Chinese species is given.

All specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Academia Sinica, Beijing.
