Created since 2009, the Franco-Kazakh GeOEnergy Center aims at promoting research & professional academic training in the fields of energy resources, petroleum geosciences, green energy, modeling and geosciences, non conventional geo-resources, mineral resources & exploration, rare elements, geochemistry, and reactive transport in porous media. It provides the expertise of the both French and Kazakh highest scientific actors in engineering both from academics and industry.

Objectives of the GeOEnergy Center are to form local national scientific elites in mineral and energy resources through research work (PhD) and advanced trainings (Msc), in order to satisfy the short term needs in professional specialists for the future economy and industry of Kazakhstan. To meet these objectives, GeOEnergy is a synergetic research structures linking the best local academic, industrial, and management human resources with the best French academic and industrial experts in engineering. The two pillars of the project are training offers and research.

Academic formations are open to all students from Kazakhstan and Central Asian Region, regardless of their university of origin, but after an open selection.

International Master Program ENERGY

Double Franco-Kazakh Master MSc (duration 2years). 1st year: in Almaty including half French and Kazakh professors (Lectures in English) 2nd year –1st semester: in various Masters of University of Lorraine (Nancy, France) - 2nd semester: 5-month industrial or research internship

Students who successively completed the two-year training program are graduated with a double French and Kazakh degree: French Master Diploma and a Kazakh Diploma of "Магистр".

Doctorate (PhD) at GeOEnergy Double Franco-Kazakh diploma program (duration 3 years) including at least 6 months in French laboratory.

Continuing Professional Training

The continuing professional training and the provision of specific courses for companies is one of the priority for the development of the Geo-Energies Center. Professional training seminars can be organized at request of Companies in various fields related to computational science, numerical modeling, Geo-modeling, fluid flow in reservoirs, geothermal, green energy, mineral estimation & exploration, ore processing, and geology of uranium. Trainings are made by world specialists.

The Franco-Kazakh research scientific consortium of the GeOEnergy Center develop public/private thematic re-search projects in: process optimization for recovering energy and mineral resources by injection of reactive solvent (in-leaching, miscible EOR, polymers, acid gas recycling, VAPEX for heavy oil), compositional multiphase flow modeling including change of phases, Navier-Stokes flow modeling, organic geochemistry applied to reservoirs, basin modeling, fluid inclusions & micro-thermometry, geomodeling of reservoir and ore deposits, reserves estimation, mineral process optimization, geothermal, and green energy.

The objectives of the GeOEnergy Research Consortium are to work at the front of the edges of advanced numerical modeling, to develop computer codes & IT technologies, to develop new conceptual models of physical processes, to provide laboratory facilities for experimental research and rocks and fluids sample analyzes.
