Staying Connected

Joys: Linda Blair was happy to report that Cooper Blair had placed 2

nd overall at the

International competition in track and field. Bob Wiseman was grateful that their daughter had flown in for a short visit and

was accepted at John Hopkins University for attaining a PHD degree. Janet Grose was grateful to be back from a 15 state vacation encountering

many orange barrels but only being stopped for any length of time once in Indianapolis. She also expressed her gratitude to Sharon Knoblich and Connie Knuth for their help in getting information for the newsletter so that it could still be sent out while they were traveling.

Cathy Gellner was happy that Jacqueline had graduated college. The Pastor was glad to see the big shoes that had belonged to Dottie Henry

back in church (from her clown outfit) that had made so many people happy through the years. Kathy Jura used them for her children’s sermon.

The Pastor was happy to have their good friends Doug and Judy present at church.

Phyllis Knuth announced a new great grandson. Debbie Chavanak announced their grandson won a science fair project contest

from about 600 contestants. Doug and Sandy Paisley will be celebrating their 49

th wedding anniversary.

Ryan Gellner and Blake will be celebrating their 1st wedding anniversary and

Cathy and Greg Gellner are celebrating their 29th.

Concerns:

Joe Blair asked to remember his sister. Debbie Chavanks son’s mother-in-law fell and suffered injuries requiring

rehab. Bob Wiseman asked to remember Sandy and her mom. John Lepp asked to remember his sister-in law. Wayne Kaufman asked to remember his brother Ford. Remember the men and women in the military.

Other:

Bob Wiseman started the service with calling on us to remember the fallen who have given their lives so that we can be here today to worship.

Youth Center Update: The General Contractor began work on the laydown lot on April 11

Signs have been moved and an arrow was placed to show the entrance to the HOC will be on Ohio Street only. Lego Camp: July 15 -19 Literacy Camp: July 22 – 26 Camp Aldersgate: July 2 – July 7 and July 28 – August 7 Pathways to Success: June 3 – June 27 Buy a Brick: The House of the Carpenter is trying to raise more funds for their Youth Center. If you would like to purchase a brick a brick for $15.00 each you may do so by sending a check to the House of the Carpenter at 200 South Front Street, Wheeling, WV. HOC Volunteer: This month Stella Strickling is being highlighted as a House of Carpenter volunteer. She was asked why she supports the HOC with her time and donations. Stella replied that “Agencies that are faith based and benefit children are a priority for me. The HOC provided both. Numerous opportunities that minister to the community, children and youth are available to all. The weekend backpack feeding program at Madison Elementary School summer camp and workshops, and the future youth center are just a few examples. Contributing financially to the HOC make these and many other programs possible.”
