Precision analysis of NIR lasersGreater than 99% linearity across the dynamic range makes theMerlin NIR an essential instrument for laser beam profiling. TheMerlin NIR is ideally suited for detection of telecommunicationlaser radiation in the S, C, and L DWDM wavebands.

Measurement across a wide intensity range The Merlin NIR’s adjustable integration time (1µs - 16.5 ms) expandsit’s dynamic range by four orders of magnitude (a factor of 10,000)without neutral-density filters. Two gain modes provide an additionalorder of magnitude of dynamic range.

High resistance to laser damageSolid-state InGaAs detectors withstand energy intensities up to 1 W/cm2 with no image retention.

The ability to image through materials such as silicon, paint and bloodUnlike cameras based on lead-oxysulfide vidicon or coated CCDtechnology, the Merlin NIR offers robust spectral sensitivity all theway up to 1.7 microns, enabling many applications beyond 1100 nm.

Radiometric measurements through glass windowsMerlin NIR can be used for radiometric imaging through materialsthat are opaque to MWIR and LWIR light. The InGaAs wavebandoffers significant enhancement in sensitivity over silicon CCD cameras.

Software Option 1: IRvista™

IRvista is an easy-to-use software package for near infrared imageacquisition, data processing and display. The software allows the userto acquire and display digital image data, change camera settings, calibrate the camera, and analyze the acquired data. Analysis toolsinclude: regions of interest; line profiles; image histogram; zoom;image stills and sequences; and spot meters. Non-uniformity compensation and bad pixel replacement are also supportedthrough software. The virtual instrument enables bi-directionalremote serial camera control, including exposure time setting,invert/revert, gain state, and other sensor parameters.

Software Option 2: ThermaCAM® RTools™ThermaCAM RTools is a highly sophisticated package developed forengineers and scientists to acquire, calibrate, process, and analyzedata from digital infrared camera systems. RTools is comprised ofseveral stand-alone modules including RDac™ for data acquisition,RCal™ for radiometric camera calibration, REdit™ for file archivaland maintenance, and RView™ for data review and analysis.Created for flexible and extensible use in data archiving, RToolsutilizes the U.S. Air Force's Standard Archive Format (SAF).

FLIR also offers a comprehensive LabVIEW toolkit for users whowish to develop custom applications with the Merlin NIR
