What does it mean to be the most spirited, best dressed, most likely to succeed, or class flirt? Most of these

superlatives signify certain personality traits. These seniors

surely possess and exert such traits to the point where their classmates appointed them specialized titles to

representations of their superlatives as well as our school. Being awarded

these superlatives can be a significant addition to your high

school experience and also something you remember obtaining throughout your life. Just ask Mrs. Larson, Mr. Fluery, Mr. Gorham,

MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED! PAGE2

THE GNA INSIDER

MARY MASHHow do you define success?

Success is working towards and

eventually achieving a goal that fits what you personally value most in life.

What are your future aspirations?

After graduating high school, I

aspire to go to college. I plan to attend Duquesne University or Ithica college. I

am currently an undecided major, but I can envision myself working in either the

fields of communication or speech

pathology.

How would your ideal life at age 40 be described?

At age 40, I would hopefully be

married with children. As far as occupation goes, it’s difficult for me to

picture where I’d be working or even

what job I would have. We’ll see what

the future has in store for me.

What motivates you?

My main source of motivation is thinking about my future. I know that

how hard I work will be for the better in the end. Although working hard is

stressful on occasion, I can only tell

myself that it will carry me in the future.

Give an example of someone you think is successful and explain your answer:

One of the most successful people, in

my eyes, is Ellen DeGeneres. Not only does she have a successful talk show and

great sense of humor, but she has solid communication skills and seems to

establish healthy relationships with all of

her guests. She has honored her personal values and completely suits my definition

of success.

EVAN SAUNDERS

How do you define success? An unattainable cocktail of happiness and other people’s expectations.

What are your future aspirations? To find an enjoyable career while pursuing my artistic interests (writing, playing music, etc.)

How would your ideal life at age 40 be described?

I can’t even begin to think that far into the future.

What motivates you?Boredom(?)

Give us an example of someone you think is a success and explain why?

I think anyone in our society who attains a level of financial and creative freedom that allows them to make decisions based on their personal convictions could be

c o n s i d e r e d a “success.” Musicians like Jack White and Kanye West as well as the founders of start-ups like Twitter and Uber come to mind.

Do you think first impressions are based on the way people dress? If so, why? I believe so. The way people dress says a lot about them. For example, they may wear a shirt for what sport they play, what band they like or even what school they go to.

Do you believe it is important to look your best? I think it is important to always look your best because, as I said before, first impressions are based on the way people dress. Looking your best allows people to know that you take

yourself seriously, care about yourself, and also makes people take you more seriously.

Is the way you dress a reflection of your personality? If so, why? Yes, it is because what I wear describes exactly who I am. It showcases what colors I like and also, I believe the colors you wear say a lot about how you want to come across to people. For example, bright colors to me indicate you have a bright personality, whereas dull colors symbolize a dull or more held back personality

Do you think first impressions are based on the way people dress? If so, why? Yes, the way you dress shows your personality. If you don’t care how you look, you generally won’t care about anything.

Why do you believe it is important to look your best? I think it is important to always look your best because people will always judge you everywhere you go.

Is the way you dress a reflection of your personality? If so, why? Yes, it is because I am usually an outgoing person, and the bright colors and unique styles I wear reflect this.

Do you believe that wearing designer clothes makes you “Stylish”? No, not at all. I feel that you can look stylish in clothes from anywhere as long as you put your own taste into it.

What is it about your personality that is attractive?I believe in having fun with a lot of situations

and scenarios that I see throughout the day. If classmates and students see that you’re a fun person,

they are more likely to befriend you and associate

themselves with you.

Why is it important to be personable? It is important to be personable because your

personality influences many

things. Your personality is t h e m a i n f a c t o r i n

establishing friendships. It also plays a key role in

crucial events such as job

interviews. If a company notices how personable you

are, you have a better chance at employment than

s o m e o n e w h o i s l e s s

personable.

For those who seem to lack personality, what advice do you have for them?

I would advise someone who “lacks” a

personality to relax. Most people who have less of a personality seem too tense and aren’t relaxed. The

more relaxed you are, the better your personality will portray itself.

Why do you think it is important to be able to network?

N e t w o r k i n g i s important in creating

fr iendships and job

o p p o r t u n i t i e s . Networking will help

you fu r the r ca ree r opportunities as well as

life long friendships.

JESS SARAKA

What is it about your personality that is attractive?I am the kind of person who always tries to be

outgoing and fun. I love to socialize with everyone and I believe having a positive personality attracts

someone to be your friend rather than someone who

sends bad vibes and puts you down.

Why is it important to be personable? It is important to be personable because I think

your personality plays a big role in everyday life. A

majority of people would rather be around someone who puts a smile on their face; I know I do.

Personality is everything.

For those who seem to lack personality, what advice

do you have for them? I don’t believe anyone “lacks” personality;

everyone expresses themselves in a different way. However, I do believe that no one should be

embarrassed or shy. Don’t be afraid of what other

people think or say about you. Do your own thing

and embrace it.

Why do you think it is important to be able to

network? Networking is important because you can

always meet new people, as well as introduce yourself or allow yourself to be introduced to new

opportunities. You should socialize in order to

pursue an exhilarating life.

NICK MARR

Why is it important to appreciate music?

Appreciating music is very important because music is everywhere in our daily lives. Watch ing TV, mov ie s , o r listening to the radio are all things we do everyday. Also, learning music is like learning a different language and it’s a way for people to express themselves.

What is your favorite style of music? My favorite style of music is hard rock.

What is the best song of all time?

In my opinion, I don’t believe that there is a best song of all time. There are many great songs in the history of music and they all have special qualities that make them great. There isn’t really one song that would stick out of the crowd to be a clear winner.

What instruments do you play? I play the alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, and the guitar.

Page 9: THE GNA INSIDER · 2017. 9. 6. · Greater Nanticoke Area High School: The GNA Insider THE GNA INSIDER April 2014 Special Edition: Senior Class Superlatives 2014 SENIOR CLASS SUPERLATIVES

KAYLEIGH PETROSKI

Why is it important to appreciate music?

It is important to appreciate music because it is something that surrounds us everyday. It is important to take the time to think about how much time an artist devotes into making something we enjoy.

What is your favorite style of music? I personally like listening to all types of music, but my favorite s ty le s would be ind ie and alternative.

What is the best song of all time? That is not really something I can judge because everyone has different opinions and so many different parts make up a song so the best song is dependent on the person.

What instruments do you play? I play the clarinet, bass clarinet, ukelele, alto and tenor saxophone, the flute, and some piano.

What are your favorite bands? My favorite bands would have to be Death Cab for Cutie and Fall Out Boy.

SKYLAR RAE MONTGOMERY

Are you naturally gifted or did you have to put in a lot of effort to reach your level of skill? I would like to say it’s a natural gift but at the same time you have to put effort into something to get better at it, regardless if you are naturally talented or not. I mean, no one is born a Picasso.

Do you plan on pursuing art in your future? Yes, as a designer/animator for Pixar, also I plan on being a tattoo artist as well.

What is your inspiration? I just take ordinary things and make them extraordinary.

What qualifies you for this superlative? I work hard and put time into my art. It is my passion and I would say I deserve it.

D o yo u f e e l a r t i s u n d e r appreciated?

I feel people think art has to be a painting or can only be found in a museum when it’s everywhere. Someone had to draw spongebob to animate him, someone had to design the new Burger King and someone had to make a blue print for your cell phone. Art is everywhere you look.

KAYHLA WATERS & NICK MURTHA

What is the importance of kindness?Kayhla: Being nice to people who

have no one to be nice to them is important. Smiles can brighten days, and they are rad, so be kind.

Nick: Kindness is important because it makes people feel good and brightens their day.

What is the kindest act you have ever performed? Kayhla: The kindest act I have ever performed would probably have to be helping clean up a stream. Nick: I think the kindest act I have ever performed was doing a food and clothing collection for my senior project.

Do you feel that more people should make an effort to be nicer? If so, why? Kayhla: Yes, because people are horrible to each other. Calm down people and smile! Nick: Yes, if one person is nice, it will make others want to be kind!

“It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.” Explain the importance of this quote. Kayhla: It’s important because if you have all the control in the world, which would be nice, it is still better to be respected by the people around you. Nick: The importance of this is that even if someone has a lot of power, it won’t matter if you don’t respect the people around you.

Do you plan on participating in college sports? Yes, field hockey at Lock Haven University.

Why do you think athletics are important? Ath l e t i c s a re impor tan t because they teach discipline and reward hard work. Sports mentally prepare you for anything you face in life.

Which sport is your favorite and why? I enjoy all my sports, but field hockey has been something I have always excelled in.

Why do you feel it is important to smile?

If someone is having a bad day, your smile can brighten their mood. Also, people are more trusting if you have a smile on your face, plus it improves your health!

What makes you smile the most?My family, fr iends, and

How do you turn a frown upside down?

I act silly, or if it is something serious, I will give them my best advice and hopefully it works.

MOST TALKATIVE! PAGE14

THE GNA INSIDER

LAUREN PRUSHINSKI

Winning this superlative suggests that you have a lot to say. What is your favorite subject to talk about?

I really don’t have a favorite subject to talk about. If I’m having a conversation, I talk about anything.

Explain the importance of the ability to communicate?

I f ee l i t i s impor tant to communicate because you can find similarities with people and make friends.

As an outgoing person, what advice can you give to more introverted students?

I would tell them to talk more because it’s a great way to make friends and it shows you are a friendly person.

Many people say that you have the “gift of gab.” Do you think the ability to gab is a “gift?”

Yes, because some people are shy, unlike me. I’m extremely comfortable in front of a crowd, and I’d consider myself very sociable. My “gift of gab” grants me people skills.

Being voted most talkative, some may question your ability to keep a secret. Would their doubts be justified?

No. Even though I do talk a lot, keeping a secret is important and I would not want to lose people in my life for not keeping their secret

What makes your friendship so strong? We are together everyday and never keep anything from one another. We have matching tattoos that make us just like sisters.

Always be honest! Be there to listen and give advice, not what they want to hear but what they need to hear.

Do you see yourselves as best friends 50 years from now? Of course. We’ve been friends since kindergarden. We wouldn’t have gotten best friend tattoos if we had any doubts.

Why is it important to have school spirit? To encourage your school to have pride

and show everyone that your school is something to be proud of.

What is it that you do that makes you so spirited? I am proud to live in this town and go to this school. I like to show the positives of Nanticoke rather than bashing it for the negatives.

How do you define school spirit? Having pride and showing support in your town, classmates, and teams.

JASMINE MORNINGSTAR

Why is it important to have school spirit? School spirit is important because it gives hope to everyone and not only that, but also happiness. Spirit is like a cold; when one person gets it, eventually everyone will.

What is it that you do that makes you so spirited? I wake up every morning with the thought that everyday is the best day of my life. I love listening to the song “Best Day of My Life” by the American Authors.

How do you define school spirit? School spirit is the ambition and drive to see your school succeed. If your school is down by five points or twenty-five points, you still need to put a smile on your face and chant: “I BELIEVE THAT WE WILL WIN!” When it comes to school spirit, you always have hope and pride in your school. Trojan Pride!
