One of the most commonly seen jackebi was ~!IO NevYaL @ern. These were issued in huge numbas and are easily identified and often seen in period image9 Some,were issued to Pennsylvania hwpn as weU They were piped on the cdlers, e@eOes and belt loops in branch of &ce blue.. Ohio State Jacket: At the outset of the C i War Ohio ranked third in population, indnstrial capacityand popukibn a h Pennsylvania and New Yok Its militia system was, however woefilly *. It required herculpn efforts on the part if the government to uniform and e p i p it's state t r oop Thougb the stale regulations @ed for uniforms '...like that of United States troops...', i e blue sack coats and sky blue trwsers, many varying nniforms'were issued and approved from sky blue Mexican War style jackets to gray coats oRen made from.'Aoddyg. The+ uniforms were supplied at the company level and Ohio units showed a hodgepodge of personal prefwences. These uniforms disappeared quickly though. and by february of 1862 troops were either in Federal supplied uniforms or state supplied look alikes. One exception w~ the short jacket which was universely popular among the hops.
