the golden policy of brooklyn college
TRANSCRIPT
I took two summer classes over this summer 2014 at Brooklyn College. Every day, I said, how much I love this campus. I spent huge amount of time just sitting outside on campus enjoying the stunning beauty of the nature. As for my faculties, how can I explain to you how kind
my Professors were. The summer classes I loved a great deal. And this fall term, I expect it to be even better. I am grateful to have transferred out of City College to enjoy the classes of Professors like Prof. Roni Natov. I
feel like Brooklyn College offers MORE interesting classes than City College. Does City College offer
seminar class on writing for children and young adult? I never heard of such course when I was in City College
but at Brooklyn College, I am taking it.
But that's just the beginning of the best part. The GOLDEN Policy of
Brooklyn College is one I think everyone should know and learn about. I work as a FWS student at
the Graduate Admission Office. And my two supervisors are amongst
the BEST of the people I have encountered thus far in my life in
the USA.
When the Secretary in the Chemistry Department discriminated me for my face veil, my supervisors came at my rescue. They were shocked to know
that the lady asked me to show my face and my ID to her to accept a drop off graduate application from me. My supervisors right away called the
Diversity Administrators and arranged a meeting for that secretary to be educated about the policy of Brooklyn College regarding such discriminations.
Can you believe a white lady will be held accountable for discriminating a Muslim woman for face veil? I am so glad I am a student of Brooklyn
College instead of the City College, where the ignorant people are in charge of the affairs and
discriminate freely.
One of my supervisors was like she faced problems from people in here also due to her accent as
international student. She was like you should be the way you want not change because of others. I was so so so happy to hear this from her. This is totally in contrast to what I was told by the people I worked with in the City College, to take off my face veil because they can't see my face and recognize me. They had this issue or that issue about my face veil. Not to mention, some professors rejected to give me any recommendation letters, others ignored to hire me for FWS positions,
and what's even worse is that Dr. Ruth of Science Department told me once that I should know the
Americans have issues with my face veil!!! That lady had discriminated many Niqabis/face veil Muslim girls in the
science departments.
